Question about using AzerothCore database data
#27860
I’m working on a WoW 3.3.5a quest addon based on pfQuest, and I wanted to ask about using data from the AzerothCore world database.
The idea is to use AzerothCore as the source for things like quests, NPCs, objects, spawn locations, quest chains, loot, POIs, and similar data.
I would run my own tool to convert that information into Lua tables that the addon can use. I would not ship AzerothCore itself or the original SQL database.
The addon would be free and open source, and AzerothCore would be clearly credited as the database source.
Before I do that, I just want to make sure I handle the licensing correctly:
Is it okay to convert data from the AzerothCore world database and redistribute the converted database with the addon?
Is the world database covered by GPL-2.0, or does it have a different license?
If GPL-2.0 applies, is releasing the converted database under GPL-2.0 with attribution enough?
Is there anything specific you would like me to include in the credits or license files?
I mainly want to make sure I do this properly before releasing anything.
