Merge many singles into one album

Hi,

I have imported some music from an artist that's essentially one album and a number of singles.

How do I make it so that those singles are all just under that one album?

I can't figure out how to make it not confused that musicbrainz doesn't think those singles are under that album and when I try to use the edit plugin it just ends up with many albums with the same name

You can use the -L flag to reimport them. Let's say you originally imported single tracks from album XYZ, you can reimport them using the following command (just specify the album ID):

beet import -L album:"XYZ" --search-id MB_ALBUMID

You can combine multiple queries, such as album:"XYZ" year:2026

I want them all to think they're in the "Lynx Africa" album so it's all under 1 album despite the fact they're not released as such.

That won't work (and should not). They aren't part of the same release, but you want to force them into the same release. That doesn't make sense.

is it possible to make beets think all 9 songs are in my own custom compilation album then?
