✨ New features
Create pull request dialog
Right-click another branch and choose Create PR: current → remote/branch.... This now opens a dialog instead of going straight to the browser.
In the dialog you can:
- See the source branch (the current one) and pick the target from a searchable list of remote branches.
- Edit the title and description. They are prefilled from the commits in
target..source:- one commit: its subject and body
- several commits: the branch name as the title, and a list of commit subjects as the body
- Pick a PR/MR template from the target branch (
.github/pull_request_template.md,.github/PULL_REQUEST_TEMPLATE/*.md,.gitlab/merge_request_templates/*.md,.gitea/,.azuredevops/,docs/, ...). - Push the source branch first if it has no upstream or has unpushed commits. For a new branch you choose the remote. It defaults to
DefaultRemote, or else a remote other than the target's (your fork).
OK opens the platform's "create pull request" page with the source, target, title and description filled in. Nothing is created through an API, and no tokens are needed.
You can open the dialog from:
- the branch tree: the remote branch context menu, and Create PR for upstream ... on local branches
- the history graph: the branch submenus of the commit context menu
| Platform | Target branch | Title / body prefill | Cross-fork PR |
|---|---|---|---|
| GitHub / GitHub Enterprise | ✔ | ✔ | ✔ |
| GitLab / self-managed | ✔ | ✔ | ✔ |
| Gitea | ✔ | ✔ | ✔ |
| Forgejo / Codeberg | ✔ | clipboard | ✔ |
| Bitbucket Cloud | ✔ | clipboard | – |
| Azure DevOps | ✔ | clipboard | – |
| Gitee | ✔ | clipboard | – |
If a platform can't prefill a field, or the URL would be too long, the title and description are copied to the clipboard and a notification tells you.
For self-hosted servers where the host name doesn't show the platform, the dialog has a Platform dropdown. Your choice is saved per remote.
Folder picker opens right away when adding a repository (v2026.22.4)
When you add a repository from a new tab and click the folder button, the OS folder picker now opens straight away. You no longer need the extra click on the folder select button.
