When to use: For chapter titles, main themes, or division of large sections in your text.
- Maximum prominence: usually the largest text box in the document.
- Facilitates navigation through extensive and structured texts.
- Helps readers quickly locate major divisions of the content.
Usage example:
Heading 1: Chapter 3 - Digital Culture
When to use: For subtitles, sections, and internal divisions of chapters.
- Less prominent than Heading 1, but still stands out compared to body text.
- Allows you to organize related paragraphs within the same chapter.
Usage example:
Heading 2: Social Media and Education
When to use: To insert a short quote, striking author's phrase, proverb, or thought that dialogues with the chapter or text.
- Traditionally used at the beginning of book or chapters.
- Creates a special tone, invites reflection, and contextualizes the theme.
Usage example:
"The speech always transcends the speaker; the speaker is the spoken. - Jacques Lacan"
When to use: To illustrate, exemplify, compare concepts, or record visual references related to the text.
- Images make understanding complex topics easier.
- Break the monotony of continuous text.
- Help provide visual examples, contextualize data, and enhance argumentation.
- Ideal for articles, educational materials, and academic work.

When to use: To complement, reference, or explain data and concepts used in the dialog boxes (Introduction, Argument, Argumentative Resumption, and Conclusion).

Footnotes allow you to add comments, explanations, research sources, or observations without interrupting the flow of the main text.

They are ideal for bibliographic references, definitions of terms, or additions that are not essential to the reading but important for further study.

When to use: To search for specific words or terms across your entire project.
- Use the search function to quickly locate a word in your document.
- The search highlights the word in the first dialog box where it appears.
- Click the down arrow icon to continue searching for the same word in other dialog boxes throughout your project.
- Essential for revisions, consistency checks, and locating specific references or terms.
How it works:
- Open the search function (search icon)
- Type the word you want to find
- The first occurrence will be highlighted
- Click the down arrow (↓) to move to the next occurrence
- Continue clicking to navigate through all instances of the word
Usage example:
Search for: "education"
Result: Found in Introduction → Click ↓ → Found in Argument → Click ↓ → Found in Conclusion

The AI Assistent was designed to review, correct, and suggest improvements to your text, analyzing everything from minor errors to clarity and coherence suggestions. This feature uses advanced artificial intelligence to elevate the quality of your writing project.
Before using the AI Assistent, configure the API in Tac Writer's Preferences.
- Go to: Preferences → AI Integrations
- Choose from the available options:
- Gemini (Google AI Studio)
- OpenRouter
- Log in or sign up.
- Generate your API key.
- Name it, create a project name, and copy the key.
- Choose and copy the model. Remove "models/", only use model name itself (required only for Gemini).
- Log in or sign up.
- From your profile, access "Keys" to create an API key.
- Name it and click "Create".
- Copy the code.
- In the top menu, go to "Models".
- Search for "free" models if you want to avoid charges. Copy model name.
- After configuring the API, click on the AI Assistent icon.
- Upload your PDF file (note the character limit of your chosen API).
- Wait for the automatic analysis.
- If there are any errors, an informative message will appear at the bottom of Tac Writer.
- Pay attention to billing with paid models: some providers may charge if free models are not selected. OpenRouter has a good paid options buying credits.
- When generating the AI Assistant output, copy and paste the text into a text editor and save it with the .md extension (simply add .md to the end of the file name). This will make the file look more organized and highlight key points.
- Images and figures: always use reliable sources and cite them in the caption field.
