1.1.1
What's changed
Documentation fix for the warm_pool_id input added in 1.1.0: the input is the warm pool's ID, and the description now says where to copy it from (the pool's page in the RDE UI or bitrise-cli rde warm-pool view) and what a reviewer's device runs with and without a pool. No behavior change.
1.1.0
What's changed
New optional input warm_pool_id: the ID or name of a Bitrise Remote Dev Environments warm pool to serve the link's opens from. Each open claims one of the pool's pre-booted device sessions when one is available, so the click-to-app time is the app download rather than a VM boot; when none is available a session is created from the pool's configuration.
- The pool must be workspace-owned and its configuration must boot a device of the app's platform. The platform is still detected from the app and must match the pool's.
- The pool fixes the device and the machine:
device_model,os_version,stack,machine_type,system_imageand the emulator inputs cannot be set with it — the Step fails before uploading anything if they are, naming the inputs. - Deleting the pool invalidates the links minted with it.
- Warm pools are created in the Bitrise web UI or with
bitrise-cli rde warm-pool create.
Nothing changes for Workflows that do not set the input.
1.0.0
What's changed
First StepLib release of the Device Preview Step. It creates a shareable link that opens an app built in this build on an iOS Simulator or Android Emulator in the browser, and exports it as $BITRISE_DEVICE_PREVIEW_URL.
- Takes a zipped simulator
.app, a simulator.appdirectory, or an.apk; device builds (.ipa) and App Bundles (.aab) are rejected before anything is uploaded. - Reuses an artifact an earlier Deploy to Bitrise.io Step already uploaded, and uploads the app itself otherwise, retrying transient storage failures.
- Optional device configuration: device model, iOS version or Android system image, stack, machine type, emulator RAM and cores, cold boot.
- Optional link lifetime (up to 72 hours) and idle auto-terminate window for the device sessions a link spawns.
- Can post the link as a pull request comment (
post_pr_comment, off by default).
Migration guide
If you referenced this Step by its repository while it was being trialled, switch to the StepLib ID so you get versioned updates:
- device-preview@1:instead of
- git::https://github.com/bitrise-io/steps-device-preview.git@main:The platform input now defaults to auto; an empty value still means "detect it from the app".
