What's changed

First StepLib release of the Device Preview Step. It creates a shareable link that opens an app built in this build on an iOS Simulator or Android Emulator in the browser, and exports it as $BITRISE_DEVICE_PREVIEW_URL.

  • Takes a zipped simulator .app, a simulator .app directory, or an .apk; device builds (.ipa) and App Bundles (.aab) are rejected before anything is uploaded.
  • Reuses an artifact an earlier Deploy to Bitrise.io Step already uploaded, and uploads the app itself otherwise, retrying transient storage failures.
  • Optional device configuration: device model, iOS version or Android system image, stack, machine type, emulator RAM and cores, cold boot.
  • Optional link lifetime (up to 72 hours) and idle auto-terminate window for the device sessions a link spawns.
  • Can post the link as a pull request comment (post_pr_comment, off by default).

Migration guide

If you referenced this Step by its repository while it was being trialled, switch to the StepLib ID so you get versioned updates:

instead of

- git::https://github.com/bitrise-io/steps-device-preview.git@main:

The platform input now defaults to auto; an empty value still means "detect it from the app".
