Overview
Revised for the 3rd Annual Champbot Challenge of 2016.
Though Tanny didn't manage to get to the the starting line in 2015, many things went right. At the top of that list neither the power nor electronic bay leaked. No electrical shorts, fire or sinking! The computers ran perfectly too.
In testing it was incredibly controllable, far more than any competitor. It was designed for wind and waves so the harsh conditions were not an issue, aside from fire. It was one of two entries with full submersion capability.
Key items to address are many. At the top of the list is H-Bridge reliability. To this end on of the H-bridges has been rebuilt using premium parts. The jaw would drop the float with little encouragement. The wind prevented the PFI from lighting. The winning entry has speed on its side, such that we would probably have taken second on that challenge. Submersion was not assured, due to the distance to the dive location. Aesthetics (the ugly antenna in particular) is to be addressed. With a lesser antenna we will need to go to an antonymous dive. Going autonomous means we could upgrade from the 27 MHz AM remote to a UHF unit since we no longer need to stay in contact while submerged.
The design documents may be developed in this Wiki, if it doesn't get to cumbersome. As before, code will be in the Literate style and, of course, git will be the source-control. For the Literate tool we will stick with cweb. There are 40 or so Literate tools and nuweb looks really versatile but cweb makes sense for this project. There are so many literate tools and so few people using them.
