Android 1.0.0 beta 8

The eighth beta of Scripture Alone for Android, as an APK you can install without Google Play.

Most people should use Google Play instead: join the scripture-alone-android-beta group, then opt in on Google Play. Play keeps the app updated and includes the Wear OS app.

New in this beta

• The German Luther 1912 Bible numbers John 10 correctly. Verse 11 is "Ich bin der gute Hirte", as in print. Before, part of verse 10 was numbered as verse 11, which pushed the good-shepherd verse to 12.

Everything from earlier betas is here too: short sermon-slide titles in Chinese, Japanese and Korean, Study's Context in place with a still overview map, your imports on Wear OS, Highlights in Notes, faithful words of Christ for imports, the crisis card, Topics, ePub and PDF import with study notes, red letters and publisher quoting terms.

This APK is for phones and tablets without Google Play. Everything is inside it: the ASV, BSB and KJV, the Bibles for every app language, the commentary, the original-language data and the maps. Nothing needs downloading, and it works fully offline. Android 10 or later.

Before installing, know that:

• It installs over earlier betas as an update. Your notes and highlights stay.
• It doesn't update itself. New versions will be posted here.
• It can't be updated by the Google Play version, or the other way round. Google Play signs its copy with a different key, so Android treats them as different publishers. To switch, export your notes and highlights first (Notes → Export, or make a Keepsake Bible), uninstall, then install the other one.
• It doesn't include the Wear OS app, which comes only from Google Play.

To install, download the APK on the phone, open it, and allow your browser or file manager to install apps when Android asks.

Android 1.0.0 beta 7

The seventh beta of Scripture Alone for Android, as an APK you can install without Google Play.

Most people should use Google Play instead: join the scripture-alone-android-beta group, then opt in on Google Play. Play keeps the app updated and includes the Wear OS app.

New in this beta

• Sermon slides in Chinese, Japanese and Korean keep a short title (a three-character heading like 好牧人) instead of losing it.

Everything from earlier betas is here too: Study's Context in place with a still overview map, your imports on Wear OS, Highlights in Notes, faithful words of Christ for imports, the crisis card, Topics, ePub and PDF import with study notes, red letters and publisher quoting terms.

The sixth beta of Scripture Alone for Android, as an APK you can install without Google Play.

Most people should use Google Play instead: join the scripture-alone-android-beta group, then opt in on Google Play. Play keeps the app updated and includes the Wear OS app.

New in this beta

• Study's Context switches in place between Overview, Map, Timeline and Charts, and the overview map is a still picture you scroll past — a tap opens the Map to explore.
• Wear OS gets every translation you import on your phone (and drops one you remove), and its Verse of the Day, tile and complication read in the translation the watch is reading.

Everything from earlier betas is here too: Highlights in Notes, faithful words of Christ for imports, the crisis card, Topics, ePub and PDF import with study notes, red letters and publisher quoting terms.

This APK is for phones and tablets without Google Play. Everything is inside it: the ASV, BSB and KJV, the Bibles for every app language, the commentary, the original-language data and the maps. Nothing needs downloading, and it works fully offline. Android 10 or later.

Android 1.0.0 beta 5

The fifth beta of Scripture Alone for Android, as an APK you can install without Google Play.

Most people should use Google Play instead: join the scripture-alone-android-beta group, then opt in on Google Play. Play keeps the app updated and includes the Wear OS app.

New in this beta

• Highlights in Notes: a Highlights list beside Notes and Favorites — every highlighted verse in Bible order, in its colour — and all three narrow to All Books, This Book or This Chapter.
• Commentary picks from a menu once imported study Bibles make more than three sources.
• Go To keeps a topic you opened in Recent Searches, and Enter opens the topic when no verse matches.
• Study sheet keeps the verse you tapped above it.
• Wear OS wears your accent colour and has a Highlights list.
• The Verse of the Day widget reads in an imported translation too, labelled by its abbreviation.

Everything from earlier betas is here too: faithful words of Christ for imports, the crisis card, Topics, ePub and PDF import with study notes, red letters and publisher quoting terms.

This APK is for phones and tablets without Google Play. Everything is inside it: the ASV, BSB and KJV, the Bibles for every app language, the commentary, the original-language data and the maps. Nothing needs downloading, and it works fully offline. Android 10 or later.

Android 1.0.0 beta 4

The fourth beta of Scripture Alone for Android, as an APK you can install without Google Play.

Most people should use Google Play instead: join the scripture-alone-android-beta group, then opt in on Google Play. Play keeps the app updated and includes the Wear OS app.

New in this beta

• Words of Christ, carried over more faithfully: a translation you import that doesn't mark them now takes them by its own quotation marks, so a parable turns red from its first word to its last, the narration around a saying stays black, and His words quoted by someone else are found too. Re-import a translation to get this.

Everything from betas 2 and 3 is here too: the crisis card, Topics, ePub and PDF import with study notes, red letters and publisher quoting terms.

This APK is for phones and tablets without Google Play. Everything is inside it: the ASV, BSB and KJV, the Bibles for every app language, the commentary, the original-language data and the maps. Nothing needs downloading, and it works fully offline. Android 10 or later.

Android 1.0.0 beta 3

The third beta of Scripture Alone for Android, as an APK you can install without Google Play.

Most people should use Google Play instead: join the scripture-alone-android-beta group, then opt in on Google Play. Play keeps the app updated and includes the Wear OS app.

New in this beta

• A crisis card: a search that sounds like someone thinking of suicide ("want to die", "suicide", "quiero morir"…, in all nine languages) shows a crisis line for your country first, to call or text, with a directory of lines everywhere else, passages of hope, and a reminder to call emergency services if in danger.
• Imports are more complete: a verse a printing runs on without its number after an omitted verse (Acts 24:8 in some editions) comes back as its own verse, and list-like pages such as 1 Chronicles 25 read correctly. A Bible PDF now gives every verse a modern translation prints.
• The import summary no longer repeats omitted verses under Gaps.

Everything from beta 2 is here too: Topics, ePub and PDF import with study notes, red letters and publisher quoting terms.

This APK is for phones and tablets without Google Play. Everything is inside it: the ASV, BSB and KJV, the Bibles for every app language, the commentary, the original-language data and the maps. Nothing needs downloading, and it works fully offline. Android 10 or later.

Android 1.0.0 beta 2

The second beta of Scripture Alone for Android, as an APK you can install without Google Play.

Most people should use Google Play instead: join the scripture-alone-android-beta group, then opt in on Google Play. Play keeps the app updated and includes the Wear OS app.

New in this beta

• Topics: in Go To, 72 themes for what you're going through (anxiety, grief, loneliness, fear, doubt, temptation, marriage, money worries…), each with the passages that speak to it, in the translation you read. Typing a word like "worried" into search brings its topic first. English readers can also browse Nave's Topical Bible, A to Z.
• Import your own Bibles: DRM-free ePubs and Bible PDFs with a text layer are read from how they're typeset, headings, footnotes and red letters included. A study Bible's notes, introductions, essays and maps join the Commentary and Context tabs. Verses a translation deliberately leaves out are listed on their own, not as gaps.
• Words of Christ in red: an import whose file doesn't mark them takes them, word by word, from the BSB or KJV on your device.
• Quoting: copying and sharing follow each publisher's own terms, with the notice they ask for.
• Your imports come first: a translation you import replaces the same translation behind an online key. Remove an import with a long press.

This APK is for phones and tablets without Google Play. Everything is inside it: the ASV, BSB and KJV, the Bibles for every app language, the commentary, the original-language data and the maps. Nothing needs downloading, and it works fully offline. Android 10 or later.

Before installing, know that:

• It installs over beta 1 as an update. Your notes and highlights stay.
