Normal Icon

  • Create a 512x512px gradient background from https://mdigi.tools/gradient-generator/ using the primary light and dark theme colors
  • In Android Studio use the gradient as the background layer and then add then use the foreground layer on top of it.
  • Resize the foreground to fit well in the space.
  • This will automatically create all the XML files for all dpi options, as well as the 512x512px image to use on the Google Play store listing.

Monochrome Icon

  • Create a 64x64 image of the app foreground logo
  • Then while keeping the image as it is only increase the canvas size to be 108x108, while keeping the image in the center
  • Take this file and convert it to an SVG
  • In the drawable directory create a new vector asset and upload the SVG file, name it ic_launcher_monochrome.xml
  • Add <monochrome android:drawable="@drawable/ic_launcher_monochrome"/> to both the ic_laucnher.xml and the ic_launcher_round.xml files
