No AI Features
Just a random note to hold my thoughts...
I keep thinking about adding a semi feature into this to enable an MCP server. The theory is, you could control your player via any AI coding app. It would be fun to build. But, I don't think I'm gonna do that for 2 mighty reasons:
- Everyone and their dog keeps throwing AI features into their apps. It's the latest craze - even though it's been going on for several years now. Anti-AI sentiment is high and I can see how that would put people off.
- I also feel like, listening to your music should be a thoughtful experience. Use the app directly. Build playlists. Think about what you're listening to. Going into Claude and telling it like, "use bocan to shuffle playlist blah", just seems to detract from that experience.
I don't know. If I had 1000 users and maybe 200 of them wanted such a feature, I'd add it - but behind a switch that defaulted to "off". However, I'm pretty sure I don't even have 50 users yet. That is of course a guess since I don't track users and can only guess by the number of downloads on GitHub...
What I could do is just build an internal API? Then anything could control the player given proper security and safeguards. But still, number 2 above would bother me.
