Sensors

PowerSync automatically creates sensor entities for energy monitoring. The sensors available depend on your battery system and whether Smart Optimization is enabled.

Core Sensors

All battery systems get these real-time power sensors:

Sensor Entity ID Unit Description
Solar Power sensor.power_sync_solar_power kW Total solar generation
Grid Power sensor.power_sync_grid_power kW Grid import (+) / export (-)
Battery Power sensor.power_sync_battery_power kW Charge (+) / discharge (-)
Home Load sensor.power_sync_home_load kW Home consumption
Battery Level sensor.power_sync_battery_level % State of charge

Daily Energy Sensors

Accumulated energy totals that reset at local midnight. Available for all battery systems:

Sensor Entity ID Unit Description
Daily Solar Energy sensor.power_sync_daily_solar_energy kWh Solar generation today
Daily Grid Import sensor.power_sync_daily_grid_import kWh Energy imported from grid today
Daily Grid Export sensor.power_sync_daily_grid_export kWh Energy exported to grid today
Daily Battery Charge sensor.power_sync_daily_battery_charge kWh Battery charge energy today
Daily Battery Discharge sensor.power_sync_daily_battery_discharge kWh Battery discharge energy today
Daily Home Consumption sensor.power_sync_daily_load kWh Home energy consumption today

All daily energy sensors are compatible with the Home Assistant Energy Dashboard.

EV Sensors (v2.6.5+)

Created automatically when EV charging is configured. These sensors feed into the power flow card and power flow visualizations.

Sensor Entity ID Unit Description
EV Power sensor.power_sync_ev_power kW Current EV charging power
EV Battery Level sensor.power_sync_ev_battery_level % EV battery state of charge

PV Array Sensors (v2.6.5+)

Created automatically for systems that report individual solar string data.

Sigenergy

Sensor Entity ID Unit Description
PV DC Power sensor.power_sync_pv_dc_power kW DC-coupled solar array power
PV AC Power sensor.power_sync_pv_ac_power kW AC-coupled solar inverter power

FoxESS

See FoxESS Sensors below for PV1/PV2 string sensors.

FoxESS Sensors

FoxESS users get additional sensors from data PowerSync already reads from the inverter. These replace the need for a separate integration:

Sensor Entity ID Unit Description
PV1 Power sensor.power_sync_pv1_power kW DC string 1 power
PV2 Power sensor.power_sync_pv2_power kW DC string 2 power
CT2 Power sensor.power_sync_ct2_power kW AC-coupled inverter power (e.g. Solis behind FoxESS)
Inverter Work Mode sensor.power_sync_work_mode Self Use / Feed-in / Backup
Minimum SOC sensor.power_sync_min_soc % Backup reserve setting
Daily Battery Charge sensor.power_sync_daily_battery_charge_foxess kWh Today's charge energy
Daily Battery Discharge sensor.power_sync_daily_battery_discharge_foxess kWh Today's discharge energy

ESY Sunhome Sensors

ESY Sunhome users get three additional sensors sourced from the BMS and inverter:

Sensor Entity ID Unit Description
Inverter Temperature sensor.power_sync_esy_inverter_temperature °C Inverter heat sink temperature
Battery Status sensor.power_sync_esy_battery_status Operating state text from firmware (e.g. "Charging")
Battery Health (SOH) sensor.power_sync_esy_battery_soh % State of health reported by the BMS

Battery Health

Available for all battery systems:

Sensor Entity ID Unit Description
Battery Health sensor.power_sync_battery_health % Battery state of health

How it works by system:

System Source Setup Required
Sungrow Read automatically from inverter None — works out of the box
Sigenergy Read automatically from inverter None — works out of the box
GoodWe Read automatically from inverter None — works out of the box
Tesla TEDAPI scan via mobile app, or capacity sensor blueprint See Blueprint below
FoxESS Not available Shows "Unknown"
ESY Sunhome Read from BMS via ESY Sunhome integration None — works out of the box

Optimizer Sensors

When Smart Optimization is enabled, these sensors are created for all battery systems:

Sensor Entity ID Description
Optimizer Current Action sensor.power_sync_optimization_status Current action: idle, charge, discharge, export, self_consumption. Attributes: power_w, status
Optimizer Next Action sensor.power_sync_optimization_next_action Next scheduled action. Attributes: time (ISO timestamp), power_w

Note: Price forecast sensors (powersync_price_import_forecast, powersync_price_export_forecast) are only created for dynamic pricing providers (Amber, Octopus Agile/Flux, AEMO, Flow Power, Localvolts). They are skipped for fixed-price providers like GloBird and NZ TOU where prices are already known.
