What's New

  • Dedicated Persistent Storage — Application data is stored under /data/Emby5/, separately from the installation directory.
  • Organized Configuration — Dedicated directories for saved settings, artwork cache, and diagnostics.
  • Simplified System Settings — System Settings now contains only What's New and Installed Version.
  • Notification-Only Updates — Emby5 can check for new releases and display release information, but does not download or install updates automatically.

Storage Structure

Application data is organized under:

/data/Emby5/
├── config/
├── cache/
│   └── images/
└── logs/

Directory purposes:

  • config/ — Emby server connections, accounts, IPTV and Live TV/VOD configuration, Seerr settings, themes, and playback preferences.
  • cache/images/ — Posters, thumbnails, and other downloaded artwork.
  • logs/ — Reserved for application diagnostics.

Emby5 itself remains installed at /data/homebrew/PPSA99515/.

Compatibility

  • Requires a homebrew-enabled PlayStation 5 with the necessary filesystem access.
  • Designed for environments using ShadowMountPlus to provide writable access to /data/.
  • Developed for the ShadowMountPlus beta5 fix 1 environment.
  • Existing Emby, IPTV, VOD, Seerr, video playback, FSR 1, Anime4K, HDR, audio, and subtitle features are intended to remain available.

Important Notes

Fresh Configuration May Be Required

Previously saved sandbox settings are not automatically migrated. You may need to reconnect your Emby server and reconfigure IPTV or other services.

Do Not Delete Your Data Directory

Normal application-file updates are intended to preserve /data/Emby5/.

Do not delete /data/Emby5/ when updating or reinstalling Emby5 if you want to preserve your configuration and cached content.

No Automatic Installation

Emby5 does not download or install new versions automatically. Updates must be installed manually or through the ProsperoStore.

Installation

  1. Download Emby5-1.2.3.zip from the release assets below.
  2. Extract the ZIP.
  3. Copy the included PPSA99515/ folder into /data/homebrew/ on your PS5.
  4. Ensure your homebrew environment provides the required writable access to /data/.
  5. Launch Emby5 and configure your server and services.
