What's new in 1.1

  • Remote branches. A remote branch that a local branch tracks now appears indented under it, with the ahead/behind counts. Remote branches no local branch tracks get their own Remote Branches section.
  • Fetch. A new toolbar button (also in View → Fetch All Remotes) fetches and prunes every remote, and Cheddar shows when you last fetched.
  • Delete remote branches. Cheddar only deletes one if it still points where your last fetch saw it, so commits someone pushed in the meantime are never thrown away.
  • New tracking branch. Create a local branch from any remote branch in one step.
  • Tags. A new collapsible Tags section lists local tags, newest first. After a Fetch, each tag shows whether it's local only, differs on the remote, or is only on the remote.
  • Tag actions. Push, fetch, rename and delete tags, locally or on a remote. Renaming an annotated tag keeps its message and the commit it points at.
  • Clearer network errors. When git needs a password or passphrase, Cheddar says so and explains how to fix it, instead of hanging. Network commands stop after 2 minutes.
