Send files from the panel: expand Send to peers to see nearby Apple devices, then click one and choose a file.

New since 0.6.1

  • Send to peers. A list of named nearby devices above a radar of their signal strength. Click a name or any dot to send, including devices whose name hasn't resolved yet. The row shows progress, and an × cancels the send or dismisses a failure.
  • Sound. Named devices ping as the radar sweeps past them, higher and louder for a stronger signal. The speaker in the radar's corner mutes it, and the setting is remembered.
  • File choosers. The download folder and the file to send are chosen in Nautilus, which opens floating and centred above the panel. The send chooser starts in the folder you last sent from.
  • New icon: a triangle dropping into a box.
  • New commands: omdrop peers --json, omdrop send --pick, omdrop dir --pick, and omdrop sound on|off.

Fixes

  • Cancelling a send or a name lookup now stops the sender and its Bluetooth advert too; before, they kept running in the background.
  • A failed driver install now stays on screen with the reason, instead of closing its terminal.
  • On a machine without Apple Broadcom Wi-Fi, such as a virtual machine, the panel says so instead of offering to install the driver.
  • The panel no longer shows a stale download folder right after you change it.

Requires brcmfmac-awdl-dkms 0.4.0, which the panel installs on first use. Privileges, the firewall rule, and dependency pins are unchanged from 0.6.1.
