Socket.io based Messaging Protocol

tkmaker edited this page May 7, 2015 · 5 revisions

Modules using Socket.io

  1. Webserver - Port 8000
  2. Doge Hub <-> Chart Web Page - Port 3000
  3. Routing Processor (RP) <-> vis.js based Network Graph Web Page - Port 4000

Messaging Protocol

The Routing Processor (RP) and the vis.js webpage will connect to the webserver socket and join as rooms/channels (See Reference below for information on rooms). The RP will join the room as 'rpsock' and the vis.js based browser will join as 'browsersock'

On network creation the Routing Processor will send a JSON message {'load_network', ...

For each user initiated action in the web browser, the client would send a JSON message of the format {'command': command_string, 'data': data_value} where the command_string and data_value depends on the user action.

For details regarding the supported user actions and the command/data spec, please take a look at the Software Architecture Specification (SAS) here: https://github.com/bunneydude/DOGE/blob/master/docs/DOGE%20SAS.docx
