🚀 Installation

  1. Download YT-DLP-GUI-MacOS-v1.0.0.zip from below
  2. Extract the zip file
  3. Move YT-DLP GUI.app to your Applications folder
  4. Right-click and select "Open" for first launch
  5. Start downloading!

⚠️ Important Notes

  • No Auto-Updates: This app includes a bundled version of yt-dlp that does not auto-update
  • Manual Updates Required: To get yt-dlp improvements, download new app releases from this repository
  • First Launch: MacOS may show a security warning - just right-click the app and select "Open"

You should download a new version when:

  • Videos stop downloading from previously working sites
  • You see "unsupported format" errors

Installation Instructions

For First-Time Users

  1. Download the YT-DLP-GUI-MacOS-v1.0.0.zip file from the Assets section below
  2. Double-click the zip file to extract it
  3. Drag the YT-DLP GUI.app to your Applications folder
  4. Right-click the app and select "Open" (required for first launch only)
  5. Click "Open" when prompted by MacOS security
  6. Enjoy downloading videos!

Updating from a Previous Version

If you're updating from a beta or previous version:

  1. Quit the old version of the app
  2. Delete the old app from Applications
  3. Download and install this new version
  4. Your settings and preferences will not carry over (this is the first stable release)

Troubleshooting

"App can't be opened because it is from an unidentified developer"

  • Right-click (or Control-click) the app
  • Select "Open" from the menu
  • Click "Open" in the security dialog

"The application cannot be opened for an unexpected reason"

  • Check that you're running MacOS 10.13 or later
  • Try moving the app out of the Downloads folder to Applications
  • Ensure you extracted it from the zip file before running
