Features
Doctor output formats for people and pipelines: --format text (terminal), --format markdown (PR descriptions, issues), --format sarif (GitHub code
scanning, with an action input sarif-file that uploads it) and --format baseline (ready-to-paste doctor.ignoreFindings entries)
--explain <check-id> prints the fix recipe in the terminal; --list-checks prints the catalog; typos in --checks/--skip are usage
errors instead of silently running nothing
Findings carry a key (the branch, tag, sha, file or PR they are about) and doctor.ignoreFindings accepts check-id:key, so one branch or tag can be
silenced instead of a whole check; gitdoctor baseline flow in SKILL.md
Five new checks (47 total): changelog-tag-mismatch (latest tag has no
changelog heading on main), tag-unsigned (opt-in via release.signedTags), gh-protection-missing-develop, gh-release-missing-for-tag, homebrew-formula-stale
Homebrew distribution folded into the flow: homebrew.tap/homebrew.formula
in .gitflow.json, a homebrew-formula step in the release/hotfix finish
probe, and a playbook that bumps url + sha256 in the tap with one gh api
call (no clone)
.gitflow.json JSON Schema (schema/gitflow.schema.json) for editor
completion; $schema documented in the config reference
pre-commit framework support (.pre-commit-hooks.yaml → gitdoctor-preflight
pre-push hook); the hook finds the doctor next to itself in a gitdoctor checkout
Standalone runs read changelog, release.githubRelease and release.signedTags from .gitflow.json (sed fallback), so hooks and the
action honour them without the agent
Fixes
Shipped-but-undeleted release/* branches no longer count as open releases
(hotfix back-merge routing, multiple-release-branches, release-develop-drift); orphaned-release-branch gives a local-only
cleanup hint when origin already dropped the branch
bash 3.2 (macOS): empty printf -v left variables unset and set -u
aborted the doctor; caught by the new macOS CI leg
Tests
Suite grown to 59 scenarios; CI matrix adds macOS (bash 3.2)
