Highlights
- More resilient widgets: keep usable data visible when upstream APIs are slow or unavailable, with independent loading, bounded background refreshes, request deduplication, and explicit cached/partial/error states.
- Persistent last-known-good data: eligible widget caches survive application restarts. Weather reuses saved coordinates instead of repeatedly waiting for city lookup.
- More accurate financial data: preserve valid rows during partial failures, display the actual currency and data time, and report unsupported or unavailable exchange rates instead of caching zero values.
- Improved RSS, holidays, and quotes: per-feed caching and real manual refresh, bundled verified 2026 Chinese holiday data, Chinese quotes via Hitokoto, and English quotes via ZenQuotes with source attribution.
- Simpler widget architecture: a shared widget registry and more stable per-instance polling, with clearer retry controls and consistent Chinese/English status messages.
- Removed the game-deals widget: its picker entry, UI, API route, and implementation have been retired. Migration and import handling remove legacy entries without affecting other dashboard items.
- Reliable Docker builds: align the ESLint JavaScript configuration package with ESLint 9 so clean dependency installation succeeds with the image's Node 20/npm 10 toolchain.
Upgrade notes
- Back up your existing data volume before upgrading, especially if you may want to roll back the retired-widget migration.
- Keep the existing data volume mounted. Eligible widget snapshots are stored under the configured data directory in
widget-cache. - Existing city-only weather settings remain supported. Selecting a city again saves coordinates for more reliable future requests.
- Default public-data sources remain keyless; a CoinGecko Demo key is optional.
v0.8.0was tagged, but its Docker build failed before publishing an image or GitHub Release.v0.8.1is the first published release of these improvements; the earlier Git tag has not been rewritten.- Publishing an image does not restart an existing container. Pull the new image and recreate the container while preserving its data volume.
