Installation
- In HACS -> the three-dot menu (top-right) -> Custom repositories, add
https://github.com/cbrightly/hass-aidot-cameraswith type/category Integration. - Search for AiDot Cameras, open it, Download, then restart Home Assistant.
- Go to Settings -> Devices & Services -> Add Integration -> AiDot Cameras and sign in with your AiDot account (the same credentials you use in the AiDot mobile app).
Your devices are discovered automatically after sign-in.
The integration depends on python-aidot-cameras[webrtc], which Home Assistant
installs automatically from the integration's manifest. For camera streaming
you additionally need:
| Component | Why | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| ffmpeg | Transcoding for snapshots, cloud-recording playback, and two-way audio | Ships with Home Assistant OS / Container |
| go2rtc | Sub-second WebRTC browser playback | Ships with Home Assistant OS / Container; bundled with Home Assistant 2026 |
Without go2rtc the integration still works but falls back to HLS, which has higher latency. If you run Home Assistant Core or Supervised, you may need to install go2rtc separately.
Lights work without ffmpeg or go2rtc - those are camera-only requirements.
Update through HACS as you would any custom integration, then restart Home
Assistant. The bundled python-aidot-cameras library is upgraded automatically
when its pinned version changes.
- Configuration options - tune behaviour after setup.
- Supported devices - confirm your model and its entities.
- Troubleshooting - if something doesn't appear or stream.
