SwitchWaker v0.4.2
SwitchWaker runs The Wind Waker (GameCube) natively on a Switch with custom firmware: the decompiled game, on Aurora. No emulation. You need your own disc of the game.
A small update to 0.4.1.
Fixed
- Sea chart zoom (#14): zooming into a sector of the Sea Chart showed an empty sector, and the second zoom always showed Forsaken Fortress. Every sector now shows its own island, also with the quality-of-life option "Full sea chart". Thanks to gptnooui for the report.
- Depth of field on the Switch (#9): the Graphics option "Depth of field" (on by default) had no visible effect on the Switch. Distant scenery is now softened as on the GameCube, at the same frame rate. It can still be turned off in the options menu (Minus > Graphics).
- Debug server: a rare crash with the debug server turned on (Debug > "Debug server (network)"), seen while warping between areas. Players who never turned it on were not affected.
Under the hood
- deko3d (the Switch's graphics library) is now built from source with two fixes from SwitchWakerHD: blending of the picture's alpha channel, and command memory that was not reused. The shader compiler (uam) now frees its memory after each shader it compiles on the console.
Install / update
Pick the download for your disc:
| Your disc | Download | Disc image |
|---|---|---|
USA (GZLE01, revision 0) |
SwitchWaker-v0.4.2-switch.zip |
sdmc:/switch/switchwaker/GZLE01.iso |
Europe (GZLP01, revision 0) |
SwitchWaker-v0.4.2-switch-eur.zip |
sdmc:/switch/switchwaker/GZLP01.iso |
- Updating from 0.4.x: copy the zip's
switchfolder over the old one. Your disc, saves, settings and the HOME-screen icon stay as they are. - New install: copy the zip's
switchfolder to the root of the SD card and put your disc image (uncompressed.iso) at the path above. Details: INSTALL.md. - One region per SD card: both downloads install
sdmc:/switch/switchwaker/switchwaker.nro.
Known issues
- "Instant text" does not speed up the text of some cutscenes (for example the arrival on Outset Island).
- The disc's videos (the title screen's attract video and the ending video) do not play yet.
- Docked at 60 fps the frame rate can still drop to 30 in heavy scenes.
