SwitchWaker runs The Wind Waker (GameCube) natively on a Switch with custom firmware: the decompiled game, on Aurora. No emulation. You need your own disc of the game.
This release adds button remapping and fixes a crash and three other bugs since 0.4.2.
New
- Button remapping (#15): the options menu (Minus) has a new Controls tab with one row for each GameCube button: A, B, X, Y, Z, L, R, Start and the D-pad.
- Pick a row, then press the controller button you want for that action. If that button already had another action, the two swap.
- ZL and ZR can be used for any action too.
- Changes apply at once and are saved with the other settings.
- Restore default controls at the bottom of the tab puts everything back.
- Minus always opens the menu and can't be reassigned, so you can't lock yourself out.
Fixed
- Crash when a Boko Baba swallows Link (#21): the game froze and closed a few seconds later. Thanks to SkyPirate4 for the report.
- Pause menu over a black or old picture (#20): with "Depth of field" turned off, the pause menu opened over a black screen or a frame from earlier. Thanks to gptnooui for the report.
- Letter sorting game in the Rito post office (#19): a letter could show another letter's picture. Thanks to MrGroovee for the report.
Install / update
Pick the download for your disc:
| Your disc | Download | Disc image |
|---|---|---|
USA (GZLE01, revision 0) |
SwitchWaker-v0.5.0-switch.zip |
sdmc:/switch/switchwaker/GZLE01.iso |
Europe (GZLP01, revision 0) |
SwitchWaker-v0.5.0-switch-eur.zip |
sdmc:/switch/switchwaker/GZLP01.iso |
- Updating from 0.4.x: copy the zip's
switchfolder over the old one. Your disc, saves, settings and the HOME-screen icon stay as they are. - New install: copy the zip's
switchfolder to the root of the SD card and put your disc image (uncompressed.iso) at the path above. Details: INSTALL.md. - One region per SD card: both downloads install
sdmc:/switch/switchwaker/switchwaker.nro.
Known issues
- "Instant text" does not speed up the text of some cutscenes (for example the arrival on Outset Island).
- The disc's videos (the title screen's attract video and the ending video) do not play yet.
- Docked at 60 fps the frame rate can still drop to 30 in heavy scenes.
