Weird, Go v1.25.6 has be out for 4 days now (released 2026-01-15) but Renovate hasn't opened a PR. |

I am pretty sure Renovate can suggest upgrades for Go using https://docs.renovatebot.com/modules/datasource/golang-version/, and I think it's pretty obvious that this PR represents a simplification of the current setup using a workflow, make target, and a custom script.
It should suggest upgrading Go to 1.25.1 if this is merged. If this doesn't, I will try to fix it or create a revert PR.
