2.0.3 (2026-06-03)
This is the first public release of our continuously maintained edition of Volta.
What's changed
-
Based on the goal - set to be a maintenance release, we've firstly updated the majority of dependencies to their latest versions. New versions of dependencies fix security vulnerabilities, and bugs that were reported, for example, the issue volta-cli#2090 has been resolved by upgrading
attohttpc. We also upgraded Rust to version 1.95.0, making it possible to upgrade to use new features. -
[IMPORTANT] We have fixed a critical issue that had long existed in the Volta Windows version. Therefore, we strongly recommend that all Volta users on Windows upgrade to this version. For a detailed description of the critical issue that was fixed, please see #41.
-
To better maintain Volta, we completely refactored the CICD. New workflows automatically collect notable changes and generate a
CHANGELOG.mdfor historical tracking at release time, which is crucial for forks. -
We deprecated and removed the use of Docker images to build Volta for Linux, instead switching to use pixi build system and relying on GitHub Actions to build artifacts for all supported platforms. This change simplifies our build process and reduces maintenance overhead. In this release, we still build artifacts supporting glibc 2.17, as described in the
COMPATIBILITY.mddocumentation, so this release is NOT a breaking update. (Note: The reason for using Docker is to support earlier systems like CentOS 7 that use glibc 2.17, We rely on the conda-forge compilers ecosystem behind the pixi build to provide glibc 2.17 support. Therefore, we believe that the support inCOMPATIBILITY.mdwill remain guaranteed for some time.) -
We introduced Codecov and added many acceptance tests, increasing test coverage from less than 70% to over 80%. This is important for forks, ensuring that we don't easily break existing functionality during maintenance. Test coverage will continue to be improved as much as possible.

In addition, we've fixed some issues listed below. This release does not introduce any new features.
