cramdex 1.1.0
Added
- Index print view options: A-Z letter sections with a "#" bucket, optional
page break per letter, cover sheet with the book color legend, font size
(S/M/L) and column (1/2) controls. Options persist locally. - Printable reference pack at /reference/print: glossary, acronyms, and
frameworks in a black-on-white print layout with per-section toggles. - DOCX export of the exam index (letter headings, per-book colored
citations, page-number footer), generated fully client-side via the new
docx dependency.
Changed
- The index print view sets the document title during printing so browser
print headers show the course and index name.
cramdex 1.0.1
Fixes the search page's book filter, which carried a fixed seven-book list from the app's original course layout. Filter pills now derive from the active course, so packs with fewer or differently named books no longer show dead pills. Found while capturing demo screenshots for the launch blog post. Full notes in CHANGELOG.md.
cramdex 1.0.0
Initial public release. Cramdex is built around studying SANS courses and preparing a GIAC-style index for open-book certification exams, while never containing any course material itself: you bring your own books.
Highlights
- Course packs: point the guided wizard (
./setup.sh) at the SANS book PDFs you own; packs live under~/.cramdex/courses/<slug>/, outside the repo. Encrypted PDFs are supported with a validated password prompt (stored 0600, or supplied viaCRAMDEX_PDF_PASSWORD). - Try it in two minutes:
./setup.sh --demobuilds a complete fictional demo course (MOON-101) so every feature works with nothing real in it. - Study tools: page-image book reader with reading progress, ranked full-text search (SQLite FTS5) with printed-page citations, flashcard quizzes with per-topic mastery, and grounded Ask over your corpus.
- Exam index builder: capture terms from search, the reader, or the page viewer; extracted-term and AI-assisted suggestions with explicit per-entry approval; alphabetical manage view with per-book colors and duplicate warnings; print view for the physical exam copy; CSV/JSON export and JSON import.
- Pluggable LLM providers: Claude CLI (default), Anthropic API, or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint (Ollama, LM Studio, vLLM). API keys are read from environment variables only.
- Multi-course: add more packs any time and switch courses from the sidebar.
