AutoDim 1.0.1 repairs the release packaging path.

  • The ZIP archive is created without macOS metadata sidecars and is verified after extraction with strict code-signature checks.
  • The release includes a SHA-256 checksum file.
  • The installation guide retains Gatekeeper protections. Use macOS's per-app Open Anyway confirmation; do not remove quarantine or disable Gatekeeper.

This app remains ad-hoc signed and is not notarized. Developer ID signing and notarization require an Apple Developer Program identity.

First AutoDim release: a macOS menu bar app that dims your screen and removes blue light on a daily schedule.

  • Daily schedule: 07:00 day, then dimmer and warmer phases at 20:00, 22:00 and 23:00 (all editable), each fading in over 10 minutes
  • Pause until the next phase, for 1 hour, or until tomorrow
  • Manual brightness and warm (orange, red) filters that hold until the next phase
  • Now and Schedule tabs in the menu bar popover
  • Applies to all connected displays

Requirements: macOS 15 or later, Apple Silicon (arm64 only; Intel Macs are not supported).

Install: unzip, move AutoDim.app to /Applications. The app is ad-hoc signed and not notarized, so macOS blocks the first launch: open System Settings, Privacy & Security, and choose "Open Anyway", or run xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/AutoDim.app once. To start it at login, add it in System Settings, General, Login Items. Quit f.lux or other gamma-based tools first, since they change the same display settings.

Not tested: first launch on a Mac that only has this zip, real logout/login, sleep/wake, external displays. See the README for the evidence behind the defaults and its limits.

Based on DisplayFilter by Yaşar Koçal (MIT).
