AutoDim 1.0.0
First AutoDim release: a macOS menu bar app that dims your screen and removes blue light on a daily schedule.
- Daily schedule: 07:00 day, then dimmer and warmer phases at 20:00, 22:00 and 23:00 (all editable), each fading in over 10 minutes
- Pause until the next phase, for 1 hour, or until tomorrow
- Manual brightness and warm (orange, red) filters that hold until the next phase
- Now and Schedule tabs in the menu bar popover
- Applies to all connected displays
Requirements: macOS 15 or later, Apple Silicon (arm64 only; Intel Macs are not supported).
Install: unzip, move AutoDim.app to /Applications. The app is ad-hoc signed and not notarized, so macOS blocks the first launch: open System Settings, Privacy & Security, and choose "Open Anyway", or run xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/AutoDim.app once. To start it at login, add it in System Settings, General, Login Items. Quit f.lux or other gamma-based tools first, since they change the same display settings.
Not tested: first launch on a Mac that only has this zip, real logout/login, sleep/wake, external displays. See the README for the evidence behind the defaults and its limits.
Based on DisplayFilter by Yaşar Koçal (MIT).
