CiteStamp for Zotero 1.0.4

Choose a tag to compare

@3RiversWebTech 3RiversWebTech released this 01 Oct 13:04

CiteStamp for Zotero 1.0.4. The same .xpi has been served from citestamp.com since 2026-08-31, so installs that auto-update already have it.

What's new: the CiteStamp section in the item pane now shows replication outcomes coded by the FORRT Replication Database, as "N failed replication(s) recorded (FORRT)" or "N successful replication(s) recorded (FORRT)". They're machine-inferred and sit on their own lines. They're never added to the signed refutation count. The pane also shows the work's signed and machine-inferred edge counts from the public graph, with a link that opens the paper's citation graph on citestamp.com. "Check citation health" now counts items with failed replications too.

The pane prints a retraction row only when a retraction is actually flagged. Zotero has flagged retracted items against the Retraction Watch database since 2019, so a "not marked retracted" line on every clean item just repeated it. Detection hasn't changed.

Data flow: resolve lookups go from your machine to OpenAlex, Crossref and DataCite. citestamp.com sees the bare identifier only, for the retraction and refutation lookup. 1.0.4 adds no network calls: the replication outcomes and edge counts come from that same response. No account, no telemetry.

Requirements: Zotero 8.0 or later.

Install: download citestamp-1.0.4.xpi below, then in Zotero: Tools, Plugins, Install Plugin From File. Auto-updates come from https://citestamp.com/zotero/updates.json.

CiteStamp for Zotero 1.0.3

Choose a tag to compare

@3RiversWebTech 3RiversWebTech released this 29 Aug 17:29

CiteStamp for Zotero 1.0.3. First release published on GitHub; the same .xpi has been served from citestamp.com since 2026-07-23.

What it does: select an item and the CiteStamp section in the item pane tells you whether the reference resolves to a real work, whether the publisher has marked it retracted (best effort), and whether CiteStamp's signed graph holds recorded refutations. A weak match is reported as a weak match. There's also a context-menu action, "Check citation health (CiteStamp)". Signing your own reference list through ORCID is optional and opens in your browser.

Data flow: resolve lookups go from your machine to OpenAlex, Crossref and DataCite. citestamp.com sees the bare identifier only, for the retraction and refutation lookup. No account, no telemetry.

Requirements: Zotero 8.0 or later (tested through the 10.x range).

Install: download citestamp-1.0.3.xpi below, then in Zotero: Tools, Plugins, Install Plugin From File. Auto-updates come from https://citestamp.com/zotero/updates.json.

Changes since 1.0.2: a reference that matches nothing now gets the no-match verdict instead of an empty result. 1.0.2 added the Retraction Watch source credit on retraction records. 1.0.1 taught the engine to read LaTeX thebibliography blocks and stopped treating a reference without a DOI as unresolvable; a title-only miss reads "unchecked".
