CiteStamp for Zotero 1.0.3. First release published on GitHub; the same .xpi has been served from citestamp.com since 2026-07-23.

What it does: select an item and the CiteStamp section in the item pane tells you whether the reference resolves to a real work, whether the publisher has marked it retracted (best effort), and whether CiteStamp's signed graph holds recorded refutations. A weak match is reported as a weak match. There's also a context-menu action, "Check citation health (CiteStamp)". Signing your own reference list through ORCID is optional and opens in your browser.

Data flow: resolve lookups go from your machine to OpenAlex, Crossref and DataCite. citestamp.com sees the bare identifier only, for the retraction and refutation lookup. No account, no telemetry.

Requirements: Zotero 8.0 or later (tested through the 10.x range).

Install: download citestamp-1.0.3.xpi below, then in Zotero: Tools, Plugins, Install Plugin From File. Auto-updates come from https://citestamp.com/zotero/updates.json.

Verify the file: sha256 50d5f1cb80928cb869527aef40e3d10b3f273d3a4611c60de52b8fe06d535616 (66,133 bytes). It's the same hash the auto-updater enforces.

Changes since 1.0.2: a reference that matches nothing now gets the no-match verdict instead of an empty result. 1.0.2 added the Retraction Watch source credit on retraction records. 1.0.1 taught the engine to read LaTeX thebibliography blocks and stopped treating a reference without a DOI as unresolvable; a title-only miss reads "unchecked".
