Maplat Wiki

Welcome to the Maplat Wiki. This is the long-form reading area for the project — tutorials, concept articles, FAQ, and gallery live here.

Maplat is a Historical Map / Illustrated Map Viewer that can transform each map's coordinates with a nonlinear but homeomorphic projection, letting historical maps collaborate with GPS and accurate modern maps without distorting the original images. It was selected for ICC Tokyo 2019 and presented at FOSS4G Tokyo 2017, and won the Grand Prize / Educational Effectiveness Prize / Visitors Selection Prize at the 2018 Geo-Activity Contest held by Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.

For the latest install steps, version info, badges, and license, please see the README first. This Wiki holds the release-independent material that grows between releases (ADR-0012).
