Added

• Telegram, built in. Sign in with your own account, your chats and channels in their own tab, add a channel by @name or a t.me link, search inside a chat, and play the videos in Hikari's own player.
• Trackers: AniList, MyAnimeList, Kitsu, Simkl, Shikimori and Trakt. What you watch is sent to the account you already keep, signed in from the app or through your browser.
• App lock: a PIN or password (fingerprint and face too) asked when Hikari opens, a keypad to type it on, lock when the screen turns off, and a "lock after leaving" wait of Instant to 60 minutes.
• One search can ask every installed extension, and every repo of the same engine, with a switch for each and a list of exception extensions that are always asked.
• Extensions tab: search across every repository you have added, and across every installed extension, from one box.
• Pairing by QR code, and the other device is found on your Wi-Fi by itself - no address to type.
• TV and remote: navigation rail, a focus ring on every control, the player's own menus walkable with the D-pad, screen-edge padding, and the television's own performance mode.
• Aniyomi and SkyStream episode lists load in one request instead of seven, and a page you are waiting on is never queued behind a background search.
• Clear App data in Settings, with a warning and a confirm before anything is deleted.

Fixed

• Pairing no longer carries your app lock or your layout to the other device. The lock stays on the device it was set on, and phone or television layout is worked out by each device for itself.
• Tapping the settings gear on a CloudStream extension no longer crashes the app.
• Playback starts the moment one server is found, instead of holding for the first one or waiting for more of them.
• A server that loads but never draws a picture is skipped instead of sitting on the loading screen - the "55 servers and nothing playing" case.
• Extensions on sites that refuse to be read inside another app work again (THE BLANK's chapters), including sites that answer a chapter request with a plain 403.
• Catalogue pages, episode lists and detail pages come back straight away on a second visit, from a cache on the device.
• Telegram: videos play on the first tap, a tag post is read whole, a search inside a chat walks the whole chat, and Saved Messages works like any other chat.
• Trackers: a sign-in finished in the browser comes back into the app, and a refused app id is explained instead of opening a password box.
• App lock: the "wrong password" that appeared for the right password is gone, the dots match your password's length as you type, and the unlock survives leaving the app and coming back.
• Manga: a failed chapter list now says why, and a chapter that a site serves behind a wall is read instead of failing.
• Stremio addons: series play, magnet links play as a torrent, and a server that answers with nothing can no longer end the search.
• TV: the focus ring is visible on every box, every control a remote is expected to reach works, and the screen-edge gap defaults to 0.
• Installing an extension no longer stutters, and installing twenty at once no longer ends in a crash.
• 18+ extensions you already installed are hidden while the adult switch is off, and come back when it is on.
• The player's fit / crop button also stretches the picture.

Changed

• "Search every extension" is now explicit: a switch per engine, an exception list, and "only this extension" really means only the extension you opened the title from.
• The phone and television interfaces are one APK, and the layout follows the device it is installed on.

• IPTV playlists. Add an M3U/M3U8 link (an Xtream panel's get.php?...&type=m3u_plus link works) or pick a playlist file from storage. Channels appear on Home (an "All channels" row plus the playlist's own groups, biggest first), in search, in the player's server list under an IPTV heading, and can be marked as exception extensions. The playlist is read before it is saved, so you are told how many channels it holds, and Refresh re-reads one on demand.
• Stremio addons. Add any addon manifest URL. Catalog addons get Home rows and a name search; stream-only addons browse TMDB, so their servers appear for titles opened from any extension.
• Aniyomi, Nuvio and SkyStream engines, alongside CloudStream plugins and Hikari extensions — all installed and managed from the Extensions screen.
• Poster styling (Settings → App Layout → Poster styling): dynamic blur halo, corner rounding, titles, score badges and glass trim, with effects — Glow, 3D tilt, Sheen, Aura ring, Spotlight and Gallery frame. Several effects can be on at once, and the aura ring has its own colour.

Fixed

• Episodes appear immediately instead of after several seconds, and a series is no longer shown as "No episode list available" while its list is still on the way.
• Ratings and the Related/Similar rows load together with the episode list instead of after it, and titles whose names carry episode or release tags ("Episode 172", "S01E12", "English Subtitles", "1080p") find their score again.
• The resume prompt now arrives with the first frame, not several seconds into the video.
• A second press of Play is no longer needed: a source that timed out (Nuvio, Hikari or CloudStream) is asked again while the film plays, and anything it finds joins the server list.
• No more "searching…" that never ends: a stalled extension, a dead repo and an unreachable addon are each reported with a retry, a repo behind a Cloudflare check is skipped on purpose and no longer counted, and a search whose progress has stopped is reported as finished.
• Only the right title and the right episode: a repo that matches one word of a title, or names a different episode number, is rejected, so another video can no longer play instead of the one you opened.
• The extension a title was opened from plays it (first in the server list), and a title you open inside one of your exception extensions plays from that extension alone.
• Uninstall removes exactly the extension you tapped, same-named plugins from other repos no longer overwrite or uninstall each other, and installed extensions no longer disappear from the list.
• Repo funding and donation cards are blocked, so a page or a loading episode is never covered by a "Help keep this alive" overlay or a donation popup.
• No extension can open a Cloudflare/Turnstile verification page by itself — such a popup is closed the moment it appears. The app's own verify button remains the only way a challenge page opens.
• Playback is silent the moment you leave the player (no sound for a second or two after Back) — while PiP and background audio still work.
• Other apps' audio pauses when playback starts, instead of a trailer, a browser tab or music playing underneath the video.
• Closing the app really closes it: no notification saying it is still searching, and no splash screen that will not go away.
• The title, description and episode names stay in the language you chose.
• The coloured glow around posters shows on every Android version, and the 3D tilt looks 3D.
• Settings always save, and the settings screen can no longer hang the app until it is restarted.
• No crash on launch, no more "0 episodes" after backing out of the player, and no crash opening a personal catalog that lists the same entry twice.
• A server name is no longer cut in half in the player.

• Every setting now lives in the right folder: Playback & Servers (controls, video enhancement, loading screen, server search), App Layout (UI scale, posters, ratings, taskbar, full screen), Appearance & Theme, Sources & Extensions (installed extensions, userscripts, extensions' verification pages), Privacy & Browsing, and Player.
• A new look out of the box: coloured halo and gallery frame on posters, the Showcase featured banner, the poster-beside-the-art detail header, the Neon player skin and the poster-card loading screen.
• Smaller downloads: emulator-only builds, the bundled yt-dlp engine removed, unused code and resources stripped from the release build, native libraries stored compressed — and one APK per processor type plus a universal one, with the updater fetching the right one for your phone.
• Smoother scrolling, tapping and settings: per-poster blur layers removed, poster styling read once per row, Home and Search lists built once per change, and settings reads no longer repeated per poster.
• Faster, more predictable searches: extensions are asked in waves instead of all at once, servers start resolving while the search is still running, a frozen extension is retried after two minutes instead of being dropped for the session, and the Sources line counts every engine, Nuvio included.
• Repos and extensions: duplicate repos are merged instead of stacked, extensions published as GitHub release files get their own identity, and a mistyped short name is answered with the name you meant.

Hikari 0.6.6

The extension a title was opened from now gets to play it, an extension that stops responding can no longer freeze the server count, and the loading screen is never a plain black frame.

Added

• Your own extension plays first. When you open a title inside an extension, that extension's server is placed at the top of the server list, and playback waits for it to answer before falling back to a server from anywhere else. If it turns out to have no link for that episode, playback starts on the first other server right away instead of waiting.
• A loading screen with no artwork now has a background. Titles whose source provides no poster or backdrop used to spend the entire server search on a black screen. The detail page and the player now show a dark gradient wash in its place, so a search in progress is clearly visible.

Fixed

• The wrong server playing. The server list was ordered only by which extension answered fastest, so a title opened from one extension could start playing a same-named video from a different one, and the correct server did not even appear in the list. Servers are now ordered with your extension's first.
• Playback only working on a second attempt. An extension's first request for a title has to start its runtime and open the site's session, which is far slower than the requests that follow. If that first request timed out it was discarded and never repeated, so a title looked like it had no working server until you tried again. The extension is now asked with a short probe followed by a full retry, and if the search still ends without an answer from it, it is asked once more in the background and anything it finds is added to the playback already running.
• The server count freezing on "still searching". An extension that stopped responding kept its place in the running count forever, so the search appeared stuck and only recovered after leaving the page and starting again. A stalled extension is now marked as stopped responding and removed from the count.
• Search pages being accepted as results. Some sites return the search request itself as the page title, which means the text you searched for appears inside it and it can score as a valid match. Page titles that are really web addresses or query strings are no longer accepted.
• Playback failing with no explanation of why. The log now records which extension was asked, what it answered, and whether playback stopped waiting for it, so a server that never replied can be identified instead of guessed at.

Hikari 0.5.22

UI tweaks

• The app has one corner radius now. Every box inside a card — buttons, chips, picker rows, form fields, cover previews, catalog rows, sub-folder rows, the new up/down chevrons — is rounded at the card's own 26.dp, so nothing sits half-rounded beside something fully rounded any more. Before this the inner boxes were a mix of 4, 10, 12, 13, 14, 16, 18, 20 and 24.dp, which is exactly what made a card look half-rounded: the same card read "fully rounded" or "barely rounded" depending on what happened to be in it, and a sub-folder row never matched the card it sat in. A short box therefore comes out a capsule and a tall one keeps the card's curve.
• Every "pick one of several" setting works the same way: one row showing what is in use, and tapping it opens a scrollable panel of choices with the current one ticked — the app language, App font, Title language (TMDB), DNS mode, Video enhance preset, navigation-bar layout and Theme. It used to be a wall of radio buttons inside the card for the long ones (DNS mode was eleven rows, the TMDB language list over thirty), which pushed everything else off the page.
• Settings folders open folded: a card holding more than one control shows its name and what it is set to ("Accent colour · Violet", "Taskbar buttons · 6 / 7 buttons · labels on") and unfolds when tapped, so a folder page is a short list of headings instead of a wall of switches. Leaving a folder folds it again, so a page never reopens half-open.
• Page headings are one line: the back button, the page's icon, then its name with the one-line summary under it. No settings page looks louder than another's, and a name is never wrapped — it is drawn at one size for every page and ellipsised.
• The sentence that used to sit under every heading is gone. Each folder — Appearance & Theme, Player, Network, Sources, Downloads, Personal Catalog creator, Privacy, Logs, Backup, About, and the sub-folders like Accent colour and App font — carried a second line repeating what its name already said. The heading is now just the name with its one-line summary.
• The explanations were cut right down — one line at most, and none at all for options whose own name says it. DNS mode lost its paragraph, and the toggles lost the captions that only repeated their own label.
• Appearance is now Appearance & Theme, and the folders were re-sorted: App font, Title language (TMDB) and the ratings strip moved to the folders they belong to, and the accent page is now just "Accent colour".
• Player controls: the preview opens showing the real button icons (it used to open as words), and the schematic sits on a stand-in video frame instead of a flat black panel, so the layout reads at a glance.

New — the catalog mover

• Catalogs and folders can be put in any order you want. In the Personal Catalog creator, every catalog row inside a folder ("Netflix", "HBO", "Pixar") and every folder row inside a collection now carries a small up/down pair: move HBO above Netflix, or move an Amazon Prime you just added up to where you want it instead of leaving it at the bottom. The order you leave the rows in is the order Home shows — the catalogs inside a folder, and the folders inside a collection. A new catalog still lands at the end of the list, and the chevron at either end fades out when there is nowhere further to go.

Fixed

• Fixed some known bugs found by actually using the test builds. Nothing sits trapped behind the floating bottom bar any more: "Add repo" / "Add Stremio addon" on the extensions screen were under the bar and could not be tapped, and so were the last rows of the Logs & diagnostics and Player controls pages. Every page that shows the bar now keeps its last row clear of it, and the choice panels inside them scroll clear too.
• The same catalog added to a folder twice now counts once, both in the editor's list and in the row it builds — it used to be able to list the same catalog twice and fetch it twice over.
• The player-control editor's last rows and the Logs page's last rows are reachable again, and no page's header wraps onto a second line with its icon beside it ("Personal Catalog creator" was the one that did).

Hikari 0.5.17

New:

• TMDB titles in your language. Movie and series titles and overviews are fetched from TMDB in the app's language, or in any single language you pick (Settings → App Layout → Title language), with a switch to keep TMDB's original titles. Changing it applies straight away, no restart.
• The personal catalog creator builds a row from anywhere on TMDB: presets, public lists, studios, networks, collections, people, directors, or a custom genre/year/sort query — by name, by TMDB id, or by pasting a themoviedb.org link — each with your own display name.
• Covers for collections and folders: an emoji, an image link, an animated GIF (it plays on the tile), or an image from your own storage, in a poster, square or wide tile.
• Library categories. Movies, Series, Action and Romance are built in, and you can add, rename and delete your own. "Add to library" asks which category a title goes in, saved titles can be moved between them, and the categories show as filter pills above the grid.
• App font: system default, sans, light/medium/black, condensed, serif, monospace, casual, cursive or small caps — or import a .ttf/.otf from your storage. It applies to the whole app, the player and the browser.
• Poster & icon styling: an iOS-style blur that lifts posters off the page, corner rounding from square to very round, and switches for titles and score badges on artwork.
• Settings → Network and Internet, with DNS mode: Automatic, Cloudflare, Google, AdGuard, Quad9, DNS.SB, Mullvad, Canadian Shield, CleanBrowsing, DNS.WATCH or your own DNS-over-HTTPS address, with a Test button. It covers searches, repo and extension downloads, stream probes and playback.
• The bottom bar is yours to shape (Settings → App Layout → Taskbar & navigation): Floating animation (the default — it draws itself in as you scroll up), Floating, or Classic; button names on or off; and which buttons it shows.
• "Show ratings" switch, for the review strip on a detail page and the score badge on posters.
• "Turn off full screen app mode", keeping the phone's status bar and its buttons visible everywhere.
• Settings is two levels deep — Appearance and App Layout — each page with a breadcrumb.

Fixed:

• The crash that could take the app down while browsing when an extension repeated itself: the same title twice, two catalogs sharing an id, the same repo added twice. Repeats are handled everywhere now, and a repo installed twice is only loaded once.
• Play no longer gives up while the search is still running. "No playable server found" is only said once a search has really finished, Retry rejoins the search that is already running instead of starting over, and tapping Play twice no longer sets two searches going against each other. The card now also names the extensions that never answered in time.
• A title you just played starts instantly on the server that worked, while fresh servers are looked for behind it — and Play searches every time instead of reusing a remembered "no source".
• Scores on posters: the badge shows on every poster now (it falls back to TMDB's average when no review score resolves), on search results and catalog "Show all" grids, and on the Related and Similar rows of a detail page — and far fewer posters come up blank.
• The taskbar is a proper capsule: it rests at the height its length asks for, with real room above and below the icons, and its names are never clipped at any app font or text size.
• The black band under the bottom bar is gone in all three layouts. The bar floats over the page, is glass rather than a slab, and stays readable over a bright poster.
• The Home provider pill can be tapped again (it sat underneath the taskbar), and it is readable on the Dark Glass UI theme — the same fix covers the extension catalog button and Library's chips.
• Poster titles are whole again: the rounded corners no longer shave the first and last letter off.
• A folder with no cover of its own shows its collection's cover.
• "Add to library" no longer cuts its own buttons off below the fold, and the extension picker is a clean minimal list.

Hikari 0.5.6

First release since 0.3.71, so a lot of this is new to you — the builds in between were test builds and never went out.

New:

• SkyStream .sky extensions. Install them from a repo, a link or a file, and use them like any other source: Home rows, search, episodes, servers, downloads. If one hands back an embed link, Hikari resolves it itself.
• A new look: rounded frosted glass cards, a floating bottom bar, round icon badges, a soft glow behind the top of the screen.
• AMOLED Black theme, true black with the same soft cards.
• Accent colours — eleven of them, and the player can keep its own accent separate from the app's.
• App icon change: Settings → Appearance → App icon, eleven icons, changed while the app runs, and your choice survives updates.
• Taskbar button hide option: Settings → Appearance → Taskbar buttons, turn off Home, Discover, Search, Library, Downloads or Settings one by one. The top bar keeps a gear, a magnifier and the verify globe.
• 20 languages, translated properly through the whole app — menus, Home, search, downloads, toasts, the player. Picked in Settings → Language.
• Personal Catalog creator. Build your own Home shelves out of TMDB lists (Marvel, Pixar, A24, Netflix, HBO, Disney+…) and any catalog from your extensions, grouped into your own folders.
• Ratings on every title: IMDb, Rotten Tomatoes with its popcornmeter, Metacritic, Letterboxd and TMDB, each badge in its own colour. Tap a badge and it explains the number.
• Age rating on every movie and series — PG-13, R, TV-MA — colour-coded: green for all ages, amber for guidance, red for adult.
• Download without playing: a download button on every episode row and one next to Library, and the player's download button now asks which server to use instead of starting the video.
• Add external subtitle: pick your own .srt, .vtt, .ass or .ttml from the CC sheet in the player, and it is used straight away.
• Server list grouped by engine, with engine filter chips in Home's provider picker.
• "Ask me when a chosen server fails" — Hikari offers you the next server instead of switching on its own while you watch.
• One Play tap searches every installed extension and keeps adding servers to the player's own list while the video runs.
• Backup & Restore, and restore from CloudStream: back up Hikari into one file (extensions, sources, repos, settings, history, favourites) and load it back on any device. Settings → Backup & Restore → "Coming from CloudStream?" reads a CloudStream backup file and adds every repository in it in one tap.
• A crash from the previous run is shown on Home, with a pointer to the logs.
• Extension verification pages switch (off by default), so an extension cannot open its own verification page over your video. Hikari's globe button still opens one when you tap it.

Fixed:

• The app no longer crashes when an extension shows a message or a login box, or when a WebView page dies.
• Picking a language changes the app right away — before, it stayed English.
• A dead server asks you what to do instead of switching behind your back, and playback starts on the first server that really works.

Hikari 0.3.69

Added

• Player controls editor — Settings › Player › Player controls. Move any player button (favourite, download, PiP, gear, lock, speed, episodes, servers, quality, audio, subtitles, rotate, skip intro, resize, enhance) to the top bar, to the left or right end of the bottom row, or hide it. Schematic preview on top, switchable between Words and Icons, and a Reset. Back, play/pause and the title stay fixed.
• Video enhance — a real GPU colour grade on the video itself, not an overlay on the UI. Presets: Natural, Vibrant, Movie, Cinematic, Warm, Cool, Anime, Bright. Pick it in Settings › Player › Video enhance or from the Enhance button in the player. Natural costs nothing, the tint is skipped on HDR streams, and devices that can't run it turn the feature off instead of showing a black screen.
• Accent colours — eleven app accents (Amber, Violet, Blue, Cyan, Teal, Green, Red, Orange, Pink, Purple, Mono) and a separate player accent for the glow, pills, badges, play ring, progress bar and gesture HUD, with Match app & player and one-tap App → player / Player → app copy.
• Logs & diagnostics — Settings › Logs & diagnostics: two rolling app logs and one crash log (the most recent uncaught exception with its stack trace and the last 300 log lines), each with Share and Save to Downloads, plus Share all / Save all / Clear all. The "crashed on a previous launch" banner got a Share log button. Logs never leave the device by themselves.
• Background work — covers, searches, catalog loads, source scans and extension installs now run in a foreground service (quiet ongoing notification), so leaving the app no longer abandons a search or a download. Android 13+ asks for notification permission on first launch.
• Instant server chooser — with "Don't play directly" on, the sheet opens the moment you tap Play, shows "Searching …" and fills in as servers land, instead of waiting for the first server. Backing out of an empty sheet no longer kills the play.
• Shared stream cache — the extracted server list is cached app-wide, and a Play tap made while a search is running joins that search instead of starting a second one. Reopening a title is instant now.
• Provider remap — extension ids are not stable, so a page that hit "Provider not found" looks the title up again (History first, then the installed providers, same engine first) and carries on. Library, last-used server and search-in-provider use the provider the page ended up on.

Fixed

• Hikari extension installation — a .cs3 plugin listed in a Hikari repo was fetched and loaded as a .hiki, which needs a mainClass in manifest.json and so failed with "manifest.json has no mainClass". Install and uninstall now go by the file's own extension, not the repo's kind.
• Crashing bugs — the crash right after opening a title or tapping Play (ForegroundServiceDidNotStartInTimeException: the work service stopped itself before going to the foreground), a native WebView failure rethrown into the app, WebView renderer deaths, and background-thread crashes no longer take the app down.
• Sources problem: the tail of the installed repos was never asked. The cross pass built one list capped at 64, and the native .hiki family alone is 64+ repos, so an installed CloudStream repo was never reached while the hint still said it had been asked. The cap is gone (1024 = every installed repo) and the pass is two-phase: search slots and extraction slots are separate, so a repo that matched can't hold up the rest.
• Sources: the engine you opened the title from is asked first and in full. All the other providers used to fire at t=0 (~60 searches at once), which buried the origin's own servers. The origin now starts immediately, the Nuvio engines wait 1.2s and the origin engine's other repos 2s, and the origin's servers land at the top of the list.
• Sources: honest progress. The hint reports "Asked N of M" per engine, how many are still searching and how many found servers, names the repos that were never reached, and gives one reason when a repo came back with nothing (no matching title / no servers / Cloudflare / timed out). A failed search is retried with a shortened title ("Foo: Bar (2023)" → "Foo").
• Cloudflare — a blocked host is named ("Cloudflare check needed on — open the globe on Home, then search again") instead of being reported as "no sources", and the verify WebView opens when that one site is what you're waiting on.
• Server chooser — no row is marked as current before playback, a tap plays the row you tapped (rows are appended in place, so the tap is no longer cancelled mid-gesture), and the chooser opens at most once per play.
• Server rows — one label line plus one host line per row, so every capsule is the same size. The long Hikari names used to wrap onto a second line and make a fatter, rounder pill than the CloudStream rows.
• Player — video size and landscape rotation when the enhancer swallowed onVideoSizeChanged (the quality badge is back), the rotate button no longer fights auto-rotate, and the glass panels are fitted to their content with the rows seated inside the bend (no jitter on Android 12+, no flat-cut text along the curve, no overhang, and the pill row resets to its left edge).
• Player menus — media3's own view ids are resolved by name, and a stale cached server list no longer seeds the live list on the first Play.

The big one: a new look everywhere, a real download system, server sections, a
much smarter detail page, and a place to talk to us.

Here's what's new — and, for the two new things that open other apps, exactly
where they open, so nothing surprises you.

Trailers open in the real YouTube app

• The new Trailers row on a title shows the actual YouTube trailers and
  teasers for it, official ones first.
• Tap one and it opens the YouTube app — the real one, with your account,
  full quality, and the controls and gestures you already know.
• If YouTube isn't installed, it goes to your browser instead. Hikari's own
  in-app browser is the very last fallback and, in practice, never gets used —
  so you always get a real trailer, not a stripped-down web page.

Telegram opens in Telegram

• Telegram group: https://t.me/CodegeasseHikari — for support, bug
  reports, feature requests, title requests, or just to say hi.
• Two ways in: Settings → About → Telegram, and a one-time invitation the
  first time you open the app.
• Join opens the Telegram app directly — and if Telegram isn't installed,
  your browser. It deliberately never opens inside Hikari's own in-app browser:
  Telegram is an app, so we hand you straight to it.
• The invitation shows once. Tick "Don't show this again" and it never
  comes back.

New Home screen

• Wide 16:9 hero carousel — swipeable, with the title's backdrop, logo-free
  art, rating and a one-tap Play / Library action.
• Continue Watching shelf that remembers where you were, plus a setting to
  hide it if you don't want it.
• Progressive feed — rows appear as each extension answers instead of the
  whole page waiting for the slowest source.
• Posters load through a bounded, tokenised image pipeline, so a Home with
  thousands of tiles no longer runs out of memory.

New detail page

• Show Details block — status, runtime, certification, rating, country,
  language, director and writers, from TMDB.
• Cast row — tap any actor to search for them.
• Trailers row — see Trailers open in the real YouTube app above.
• Related and Similar shelves.
• Add to Library (the heart) right on the page, mirroring the player's heart.
• Season picker and 30-episode pages, so a 200-episode show is navigable.
• Episode names in English — pulled from TMDB (en-US) when it has them;
  otherwise the episode keeps the source's own name (never a Chinese title
  substituted for an English one). Decorated/franchise titles ("Sword of Coming
  Season 2", "Battle Through The Heavens: Origin") now resolve properly, which
  is what brings Cast / Trailers / Details / Related / Similar back for them.
• Tap a genre/tag chip to search for it.

New player UI

• Complete redesign: floating glass panels for every menu — quality, audio
  track, subtitles, servers, episodes, playback speed and progress — with the
  panel's rows following its curved edge.
• Compact top bar (heart / download / PiP / gear / lock), centred pill row, and
  a "Tap to play" title card while the stream starts.
• Gesture HUD: double-tap to seek (5s/10s), vertical swipe for brightness
  (left) and volume (right), long-press speed, lock and rotate pills.
• Subtitles: size, sync offset and vertical position controls; side-loaded
  subtitle files render correctly now; audio-track switching fixed.
• Picture-in-picture, YouTube-style control auto-hide, resume prompt inside
  the video, and deep buffering so a weak connection stalls instead of dying.
• Side-loaded and extension-provided subtitles, per-source headers, HLS/DASH,
  ClearKey/Widevine DRM, and no more replaying an expired provider link (servers
  are re-fetched when they go stale). The server list keeps filling in live
  while you watch.

Pick your server, grouped by engine

• Don't auto-play the first source — a new setting lets Hikari wait (for the
  first server, or until N servers are found) and show the chooser instead, with
  an optional title-card loading screen.
• Servers are now grouped into sections: CloudStream, Hikari,
  Nuvio, Stremio (and Other), so a merged list of 40 servers is readable
  at a glance.
• Slow connection / mobile data mode — raises the search and probe timeouts
  and retries providers that time out, so a weak connection doesn't end in
  "No playable sources found".
• Play never dead-ends any more: the player opens immediately and the sources
  sheet reveals itself as soon as anything is found.

Downloads (new)

• Save titles offline inside the app and/or export to your phone's
  storage (Downloads folder via MediaStore).
• Choose the quality to download.
• HLS downloads keep video + audio in sync and mux them into one MP4
  (separate audio tracks are merged, not dropped).
• Parallel segment fetching — video and audio download at the same time.
• 1–10 concurrent downloads slider, live speed, progress, a "Converting"
  phase and the ability to pause/cancel/delete from the Downloads tab.

New Settings screen

• Reorganised into folders instead of one endless list: Player, Sources,
  Downloads, Appearance, Privacy, About.
• In-app UI scale — ignore the phone's font/display size and pick your own,
  so the app looks identical on every device.
• Themes, playback start rule, loading banner, slow-connection mode, ad
  blocking, userscripts, element blocker, WebView safety (redirect + popup
  protection with an allow-list), WebView user-agent override, download
  concurrency, continue-watching visibility, and a GitHub update checker that
  downloads and installs the new APK for you.

Extensions

• CloudStream .cs3 plugins (Stage 2): Hikari's own cloudstream3
  compatibility layer — install from a repo (checksum-verified) or a single
  .cs3 URL/file, and the plugin's own settings screen opens from the gear.
• Hikari extensions (.hiki), Nuvio providers, Stremio addons and
  universal JSON/HTML scrapers all live side by side.
• Extension browser with folders per repo, per source kind, install-all,
  search, and a globe button to run an extension's Cloudflare verification
  in a real WebView.
• The official Hikari and CloudStream repos are seeded on first run, so you have
  sources without typing a single URL.

Fixes

• Detail-page metadata (Show Details / Cast / Trailers / Related / Similar) used
  to silently never load — a NetworkOnMainThreadException swallowed by a
  runCatching. All TMDB calls now hop to a background thread by construction.
• System back now steps out of Extensions/Settings folders instead of dropping
  you on Home.
• Out-of-memory crashes on image-heavy screens (bounded caches, largeHeap,
  poster tokenisation).
• Search paging, catalog categories, plugin settings sheet scrolling, mojibake
  in some titles, hero banner swipe, single-season shows with continuous
  numbering, and a Kotlin string-interpolation crash on CJK season markers
  (第2季).
• In-app fullscreen no longer leaves a blank band under the status bar after
  coming back from the background.

Downloads

• Download offline — save a video inside Hikari and watch it later without internet.
• Download to local storage — save the video to your phone's Downloads folder (Downloads/Hikari) as a single normal, playable file.
• Fixed a bug where videos saved to phone storage had no sound.
• You can now choose how many downloads run at the same time (1–10) in Settings.
• Every download now shows its live download speed while it downloads.
• When a download finishes downloading and starts being put together, it now says “Converting…” instead of showing a progress bar that jumps back on its own.

Streaming

• One video now searches all your installed repos/extensions for a source, so if one server fails it will play from another.

Download Speed

• Download speed might be slow in this update around 1-1.5 mb/s, i will public new update tommorrow where you will get same speed as your internet speed when you download anything in hikari.
