Beta build for public distribution.

Starter kit updates as pull requests

Changes to a starter kit can now be released to student repos as diff-based pull requests, from a new Release Pull Request wizard on Edit Assignment. It works one section at a time (or "All sections" explicitly), retries network failures, lists failures first with a one-click retry, and includes step-by-step merge instructions for students. Issue references in the kit are replaced with issue titles so they don't link to or close unrelated issues in student repos.

Continuation assignments now build their first pull request as a diff from a kit-only base commit, so it no longer overwrites students' work. The user guide documents Continuing Assignments and their overwrite risks.

More reliable provisioning

  • Provisioning shows live progress with a "Stop after this repository" button, keeps running in the background if the window is closed, and saves each repository as soon as it's created
  • Provisioning, Set Up and the instructor copy share one queue that waits out GitHub's "submitted too quickly" limit instead of failing students, and says when the limit should be restored
  • Repositories already created from the assignment's starter kit by an earlier run are recorded instead of reported as errors

Re-releasing expired invitations

An expired invitation brings the Release button back, and Release clears the expired invitation before sending a fresh one. After the due date, a secondary Release button invites students who have an individual extension.

Also in this release

  • Assignment actions (Set Up, Provision, Release, Download) can now be run from the View Assignment page
  • New "Assignment Downloads" settings: a preferred download folder, and optionally shorter per-student folder names to keep Windows paths short
  • Duplicate GitHub usernames within a section are flagged and skipped when provisioning, releasing or downloading
  • Message icon (email / Microsoft Teams) beside each student on the View Assignment page
  • Report a Bug can include recent log information, with student and course details anonymized first
  • Saves no longer undo each other when a dashboard refresh, long-running operations and quick edits overlap
  • Older assignment repos are backfilled with their starter kit version on refresh
  • The Recently Completed card now shows the most recently due completed assignment
  • The Release button no longer reappears before the release date for an assignment released early
  • The enrolment Destination section is hidden unless the student is transferring
