RedTerm Desktop 1.7.14

RedTerm Desktop 1.7.14 makes updates easier to follow, adds three new terminal settings, and reorganizes Settings into side tabs.

New: update download progress

When an update is downloading, a progress dialog now shows the live percentage and size, so you always know the update is in progress even if Settings is closed. The dialog closes automatically when the download finishes, and a failed download now shows a clear in-app message instead of failing silently.

New: Settings side tabs

Settings is now organized into side tabs — Terminal, Appearance, Notifications, Shortcuts, and Updates — so each section stays short and easy to scan.

New: configurable scrollback buffer

The terminal scrollback buffer is now configurable from Settings → Terminal: 1,000 to 50,000 lines. Shrinking the limit applies immediately, and the setting survives restarts. While you are reading scrollback, changing the limit keeps your viewport instead of jumping to the bottom.

New: terminal bell notifications

When a background session rings the terminal bell — for example while you are reading another tab — RedTerm now shows a system notification that identifies the session, with a cooldown to prevent notification spam. You can turn this off in Settings → Notifications.

New: automatic update check toggle

Settings → Updates adds a switch for automatic update checks on startup. Turn it off and RedTerm only checks when you ask it to; manual checks always remain available.

New: cursor blink setting

The terminal cursor blink can now be turned off in Settings → Terminal for a solid, always-visible cursor.

Improved: nested dialogs

Overlapping dialogs — for example an update download finishing while a confirmation is open — now keep keyboard focus, Escape, and the background on the dialog you actually see.

Security and reliability

Update downloads apply a network timeout, notification permissions are limited to the minimum set, and scrollback trimming now keeps buffer and image bookkeeping consistent.
