Notes
Ctrl+5. A wall of small yellow squares. That is nearly the whole of it, and that is the point.
A note is a scrap of text with a colour and a date. There is no title, no formatting and no folder structure worth the name — the reference's own notes are a sticky pad, and this is that. Notes are kept in the PIM store beside your calendars and contacts.
The Home tab's Current View offers three:
| Icon | The notes as squares, newest first. The default, and the one that looks like a pad. |
| Notes List | One row a note, with what it says beside it — for a wall too big to scan. |
| Last 7 Days | The same rows, kept to the week just gone. |
Writing one. Ctrl+Shift+N anywhere in the application, or New Note here. A note window is a
square you type into; there is nothing to fill in and nothing to press. Closing it keeps it —
that is what a note is, and a note that needed saving would be a document.
The first line is the name. A note has no title, so its first line is what the wall shows and what the list sorts by. Start with the words you will look for.
Colour. Notes take the same colour categories as everything else, and the square is drawn in the category's colour. Yellow is what a note is when nobody said.
Finding one. The search box matches the text of every note. There is no grammar here — a note has one field.
Getting one out. Forward sends a note as a message. Copy takes its text. Notes are not a place to keep anything you will need in another application: a note is for the thing you will act on this week.
- Colour: on the note itself, through Categorize. There is no Options page for this module — a note has one field and a colour, and there is nothing to configure about it.

Which store: the PIM store,
~/.local/share/mailbox/pim.db, alongside calendars, contacts, tasks and journal entries. It is backed up with everything else by Account Settings › Data Files › Backup & Restore.
