Vertigo intro screen 15 seconds

A few years ago, our Dark Lord Ben developed a 2-D platformer called Vertigo for PC. It was published as freeware and received positive reviews on several websites. The purpose of this project is to rebuild and improve the game using the Unity game engine and sell it on Android.

Here's the original game.

Vertigo is a puzzle game. Each level is full of obstacles that must be bypassed by touching "gravity blocks" that change the direction of gravity, and by touching "screen wrapping blocks" that change the direction the camera can scroll. There are also keys that you must collect to open certain areas. Finally you reach the end block and progress to the next level. There are 9 levels in the original game. Also, spikes are bad.

Unity editing footage (sped up)

We are building the game with the Unity game engine. Unity is a development framework that abstracts away some of the difficulty of game development and allows for easy publication to a variety of platforms. Development consists of a combination of writing game object scripts and creating levels in the Unity scene editor.

This is the Unity version of the game running on Linux. It includes some new levels that we designed.

Future work slideshow thing

We have several features planned for the future that we would like to finish before putting the game on the market. One of these features is updated graphics and different environments. We have already started work on creating the art for new jungle, volcano, and underwater regions. We have also written a storyline that gives purpose to your character's actions. We would like to create a multiplayer version of the game, where players can use the current mechanics to battle each other in arenas. Last, we want to release a level-editor so that anyone can create new levels to put in the game.
