Convx 1.5.1 is the big one since 1.4 — local-only mode, a full DIY player editor with custom icons and shareable presets, Auto-DJ mixing, ambient mode, AI playlist editing, a redesigned Home, tablet-optimized layouts, and a long list of bug fixes and performance work. Listen Together is temporarily disabled this release — see below.

DIY Player Editor & Presets (New)

  • Full DIY editor for the player screen: drag stickers (emoji or your own images) onto the artwork, background, or controls, with live drag-to-reorder priority and per-sticker rotation/scale/opacity.
  • Custom player icon changer — swap the play/pause, next/previous, like, and seek-thumb glyphs for your own images, with an accurate live preview (Settings → Player → Player Icons).
  • Presets: save a full player look (background, artwork shape, icons, stickers) as a preset, and now share and import presets as a single file with someone else.
  • New settings for the glass puck and glass type — puck can now render as blur or transparent, independent of the rest of the nav bar's glass.
  • App icon changer with a fresh set of icons (Settings → Appearance → App Icon).
  • How to use: Settings → Player → Player Theme for the editor entry point, Player Icons for the icon changer, Presets for save/share/import.

Auto-DJ Mixing & Creative Transitions

  • On-device BPM detection with tempo-matched crossfades between tracks — the DJ mode from 1.4, now properly finished and turned on by default eligibility (still opt-in).
  • Creative transitions: on a transition that can't be made seamless, covers the seam the way a DJ would — an echo tail or a turntable brake, picked to suit the two tracks. Well-matched tracks are still always mixed invisibly.
  • How to use: Settings → Player → turn on Crossfade, then Auto-DJ Mixing, then Creative Transitions — each depends on the one before it, and the settings screen tells you which.

Local-Only Mode

  • One switch rewires Home, Library, and Search to your on-device music library instead of YouTube Music — for anyone who wants Convx as a straightforward local player.
  • Local Home rows get sort (name/date/artist/play time) and folders now show a real thumbnail pulled from the folder's own tracks instead of a generic icon.
  • Local/on-device search — was silently broken (never received what you typed), now works.
  • Library's local view now shows Playlists instead of Artists — matches how a local library actually gets browsed.

Home Screen Redesign

  • New Apple Music-style card layout across Home, with a real blur fallback when there's no custom background image.
  • Home now respects your custom background image on the search results screen too, not just Home itself.
  • New Hide favorite icon on Home toggle (Settings → Appearance) if you'd rather not see the heart badge on Home rows specifically — Library and search keep it.
  • Speed dial no longer forces a cramped second row on tablets — it was hitting the row-count threshold one column short of where the rail-adjusted width actually allowed a single wide row.
  • New compact player option for tablets/wide screens: caps the expanded player to a phone-like width and centers it, instead of stretching edge-to-edge (Settings → Player).

Ambient Mode, Ringtones, AI Playlists

  • Ambient mode: a fullscreen glowing now-playing visualizer with lyrics, swipe gestures for skip/volume — no longer leaks the floating side rail over itself on tablets.
  • Set as ringtone: trim and set any track as your device ringtone, right from the song menu.
  • AI playlist editing: describe changes to a playlist in plain language and have it modified for you.
  • Channel switching / multi-account: a dedicated screen to tap-switch between saved YouTube accounts instead of logging out and back in.

Search, Library, Settings

  • Search in Settings — the whole settings tree is now searchable from one box instead of digging through menus.
  • Low data mode toggle for capped/metered connections.
  • ListenBrainz scrobbling support, with your own token.
  • Better local search matching; better iOS-style overscroll feel throughout.
  • Adaptive text color in the nav bar — the wordmark and icons now track the current theme/background instead of a fixed color.

Downloads & Storage

  • Fixed downloaded songs missing thumbnails (a metadata backfill gap for tracks added before their full details were fetched).
  • Fixed a local/downloaded cache issue where downloaded files weren't being cleared — storage was quietly growing without the app's own cleanup catching it.
  • GIFs picked as a Home background no longer get silently baked into a static JPEG (animation now actually plays).

Modules & JioSaavn

  • Enabled 8spine modules now get a drag-to-reorder priority list — playback tries them in the order you set, not an arbitrary index order.
  • New toggle: a JioSaavn miss can fail playback instead of always silently falling back to YouTube, for anyone who wants Saavn-or-nothing.

Listen Together — Disabled This Release

  • Still mid-rework; disabled for 1.5.1 rather than shipped half-working. Every entry point cleanly shows "not available" instead of a broken connection. Back next update.

Performance

  • Album/Playlist rows in Library no longer each independently re-subscribe to the full downloads map — was recomposing every visible row on any unrelated download progress tick.
  • Eliminated per-item database query subscriptions on Home; stable keys and remembered active-states across Home's grids.
  • 120Hz-targeted backdrop capture and switch-rendering optimizations; hardware bitmap decoding in the image loader to stop slow bitmap-upload stalls.
  • Settings screens (Player, Appearance, general Settings) moved to lazily-composed lists instead of paying a full composition pass on every scroll frame.

Fixes

  • Sticker placement in the DIY editor now matches the real player exactly — was two different coordinate systems, so a sticker placed in the editor could land somewhere else entirely on the real screen.
  • Custom seek-thumb image now shows up under the Wavy and Squiggly slider styles too, not just the default one.
  • Custom player icons no longer show a stale cached image after you delete and re-pick one.
  • DIY stickers no longer bleed over the queue sheet or inline lyrics.
  • Auto-uploaded imported playlists to the signed-in YouTube account.
  • Fixed a random launch crash on database upgrade (a Room migration race condition).
  • Numerous crash fixes around the floating tab bar, Listen Together buffering/guest playback lock, and foreground-service lifecycle during DJ transitions.

Install: download the APK above, or update in-app via Settings → Check for updates.
