Release list
Pinpoint 0.6.0
What's New in 0.6.0
- Crop tool in the editor — trim a capture with eight handles and a rule-of-thirds grid; existing markers and arrows are remapped into the cropped frame.
- Optional capture timer — a 3, 5, or 10-second countdown before the shot so you can arrange your UI or open a menu; press Esc to cancel.
- "What's New…" menu item — opens the changelog so you can always see what each release added.
Crop tool and capture timer contributed by @ganuong11 — thank you! 🙏
Pinpoint 0.5.0
Pinpoint captures your screen, drops numbered markers on what matters, and copies a ready-to-paste prompt for your AI agent: an annotated image plus instructions that reference every marker.
What's new in 0.5.0
- Markers stay fully visible near edges. A marker placed close to an edge is no longer clipped in the exported image — the badge is kept inside the picture, so the agent always sees the number.
- Shelf shortcuts. ⌘A selects all screenshots; Esc exits selection mode.
- Editor tool picker no longer shifts around in narrow windows.
If you're on 0.4.0+, Pinpoint updates itself — just use Check for updates… from the menu (or wait for the automatic check).

Signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple. On your first capture, macOS asks for Screen Recording permission (System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen Recording), then quit and relaunch Pinpoint once.

Pinpoint 0.4.0
Pinpoint captures your screen, drops numbered markers on what matters, and copies a ready-to-paste prompt for your AI agent: an annotated image plus instructions that reference every marker.
What's new in 0.4.0
- Automatic updates. Pinpoint now keeps itself up to date — a new Check for updates… menu item plus background checks (powered by Sparkle). This is the first version with in-app updates, so from here on new releases install in one click.
- Multi-monitor capture, fixed. The selection overlay now dims and works on every display, not just the primary one. (#26)
- Copied images always paste. The image from Copy for the agent is capped so it reliably pastes into Claude, GitHub, and other targets; a new Save image… (⌘S) exports the full-resolution PNG. (#28)
- Version shown in Settings, so you always know which build you're running.

Pinpoint 0.3.0
Pinpoint captures your screen, drops numbered markers on what matters, and copies a ready-to-paste prompt for your AI agent: an annotated image plus instructions that reference every marker.
What's new in 0.3.0
- Edit in Pinpoint from the Shelf. Any screenshot in the Shelf — including a native ⌘⇧4 capture — can now be reopened as a Pinpoint annotation session. A prominent Edit in Pinpoint button in the detail window, plus a direct pin action and a menu entry on every thumbnail. (#18)
- Custom Shelf titles. Rename any capture inline (double-click) or via Edit title…, without renaming the file on disk. Titles follow renames/moves and are cleaned up on delete.
- Fix: pasting a capture into a terminal. Pasting into a text-only target (e.g. a terminal / Claude Code) kept only the text and dropped the image. The image now survives the paste, since the legend is baked into it.
