1.1.7
RetinaRest v1.1.7 — Hotfix
Bug Fix
Fixed a startup crash introduced in v1.1.6 that prevented the app from
opening on existing installations.
Root cause: The new analytics column added in v1.1.6 was not being
migrated on existing databases, causing a crash on launch.
This update applies the fix automatically. No action needed.
v1.1.6
RetinaRest v1.1.6
Privacy-First Analytics
RetinaRest now collects anonymous usage data to help understand how the app
is being used and guide future improvements.
What is collected:
- Whether you open the app (daily/weekly/monthly active users)
- Whether breaks are completed or skipped (compliance trends)
- Your app version and OS platform (Windows/Mac/Linux)
- A random anonymous ID generated on your device
What is never collected:
- Your name, email, or any account information
- File names, clipboard contents, or screen contents
- Your IP address
- Any personally identifiable information
Data is stored on PostHog servers in the European Union and is never sold
or shared with third parties.
Opt-Out
You can disable analytics at any time:
Settings → Privacy → Anonymous Usage Analytics → Off
Auto-update is enabled — existing installs will update automatically.
v1.1.5
🛠️ Refinements & Fixes
- Click-Outside to Close: Fixed an issue where the user sign-out menu would stay open permanently. Now, clicking anywhere else on the screen smoothly dismisses the popover menu.
- Premium Dark Mode Exclusive: We've removed the Light/System theme toggles from Settings. The app's design language, ambient glowing orbs, and glassmorphism elements are now exclusively tuned for our signature dark mode aesthetic.
v1.1.4
📐 Layout & Spacing Polish
Based on feedback, we've refined the spacing and structure of the main app window to feel much more balanced and breathable.
What's Fixed
- True Structural Layout: The navigation dock no longer "floats" over the content (which caused dead zones on the right side). It now occupies its own dedicated column, and the main content naturally fills the remaining width.
- Wider Content Area: We've increased the maximum width limit on both the Settings and Analytics pages. They now properly stretch to use the extra screen space instead of feeling squished in the center.
- Spacious Dock: The navigation dock is now taller with larger icons and increased vertical spacing between items, making it feel less congested and much easier to click.
- Overlay Declutter: Removed the "Breathe in / Breathe out" text cue from the break overlay for a cleaner, distraction-free visual experience during your 20-20-20 breaks.
v1.1.3
🎨 Complete UI Redesign — v1.1.3
This release is a full ground-up visual redesign of every single screen in the app.
Nothing from the old UI remains. Every page, component, and interaction has been rebuilt.
🏠 Dashboard
- Rebuilt around a centered timer orb — the entire page focuses on the timer with breathing ambient glows behind it
- Quick stats below the timer are now floating glass pills — screen time, breaks done, compliance rate, and streak — each color-coded
- Stats now show shimmer skeleton placeholders while loading, instead of a blank space
🔔 Break Overlay
- Completely redesigned full-screen experience with a dual-phase countdown ring (SVG arc, glowing, animated)
- Phase 1 (Prep): deep purple ambient glow — "Get ready to look away"
- Phase 2 (Look): deep blue ambient glow — "Look at something far away"
- Live breathing cue cycles through: Breathe in → Hold → Breathe out → Relax
- Phase progress dots at the bottom show which phase you're in
- Ambient glows breathe and pulse in sync with the countdown
- Smooth fade-out + zoom animation when the break ends — no more snap cut
📊 Analytics
- All stats are now glass stat cards with color-coded icon backgrounds (blue, green, red, yellow, teal)
- Weekly charts (Compliance Rate + Break History) sit inside frosted glass containers
- Weekly summary (Total Screen Time, Breaks Taken, Avg Compliance) displayed as glass summary pills
⚙️ Settings
- Timer controls replaced with a new hold-to-change stepper (press and hold +/- to fast-scroll)
- All setting groups are now wrapped in glass section cards with section labels
- Toggles redesigned with a gradient glow effect when active (blue gradient with
box-shadowglow) - Theme switcher buttons now have a gradient highlight with a subtle glow when selected
- Save button is now a gradient button that dynamically changes color (blue → green on success → red on error)
- App version shown at the bottom of the page
🔐 Login Screen
- Brand new full-screen dark login with animated ambient blobs in the background
- Glass auth card with frosted backdrop blur
- Google sign-in and Guest mode buttons fully redesigned
- Smooth error messages with animated fade-in
🗂️ Navigation — Floating Dock
- Old top/side nav completely replaced with a vertical floating glassmorphic dock on the left edge
- Active page shows a left-edge accent bar + a glowing blue dot beneath the icon
- Inactive icons fade in with a slide-in tooltip label on hover
- User account button at the bottom with a sign-out popover
🌌 Global Design System
- Dark base color:
#070b14across all surfaces - Glassmorphism throughout:
backdrop-filter: bluron every card, dock, overlay, and panel - Ambient floating orbs in the background of the main layout — they slowly drift and breathe
- All animations use custom keyframes:
fade-in,slide-up,breathing,ambient-float,orb-appear - Typography: Inter (UI) + JetBrains Mono (timer numbers)
v1.1.2
🧠 Smart Idle Detection
- Display Off = Timer Paused: RetinaRest now intelligently detects when you step away from your computer. If you've been idle for 3+ minutes (display off, no mouse/keyboard), the work timer automatically pauses — so you're never penalized for time you weren't actually at your screen.
- Short Break (3–10 min away): Timer resumes exactly from where it left off.
- Long Break (10+ min away): Timer resets to a full fresh session — because your eyes have already had a proper rest!
- PC Sleep / Screen Lock: Treated as a long break — always resets to a fresh session when you return.
v1.1.0
🐛 Bug Fixes & Improvements
- Smart Timer Adjustments: Fixed an issue where clicking "Save and Apply" in the Settings menu would completely reset your current work timer. The timer is now intelligent:
- If you change your work duration, the timer will smoothly add or subtract the time difference from your current session instead of starting over.
- If you only tweak other settings (like sounds or themes), your timer will no longer be interrupted at all!
1.0.8
✨ Polish & Quality of Life
- Tray Behavior Fixed: Clicking the red
Xon the app now properly minimizes the app silently into your system tray, allowing the timer to continue running in the background. You can fully exit the app by right-clicking the tray icon and selecting "Quit". - Auto-Startup Enabled: Fresh installations of RetinaRest will now automatically register to start with Windows by default, ensuring your eyes stay protected from the moment you boot your PC!
- System Tray Icon Restored: Fixed an issue where the custom RetinaRest blue eye icon wasn't rendering in the Windows System Tray or Windows Notifications.
v1.0.5
✨ New Features & Polish
- Brand New App Icon: Updated the application icon with a stunning, modern dark theme design that looks amazing on the taskbar and Start Menu!
1.0.1
🔧 Bug Fixes
- Fixed app crash on startup (Prisma database engine not found)
- Fixed app icon not showing correctly in Start Menu and taskbar
