First-Run Notes

vectile is unsigned. It's safe and open source.

• Windows: SmartScreen → More info → Run anyway, or unblock the .exe in Properties.
• macOS: right-click → Open, or xattr -d com.apple.quarantine the .app.
• Linux: chmod +x the AppImage; the .deb pulls GTK4, WebKitGTK 6.0, and libgomp1.

Older PCs

Normal builds need AVX2 (Intel Haswell 2013+, AMD Excavator 2015+). Older CPUs need the
legacy build: same app, any 64-bit CPU, but never install both.

K-quant models (BGE-M3, BGE Small Q4_K_M, all-MiniLM Q4_K_M) are about 17x slower there.
Pick BGE Small EN v1.5 Q8_0 in Settings; it runs at about half speed.
