Release list
Fig Backup 1.0.1
Fixes
- Preserve existing backups and archive entries when an overwrite fails; update file ownership only after a verified save.
- Keep the initial file list and completed results when a file-name conflict is resumed. Folder backups retain the correct API even when browsing other teams.
- Preserve executable permissions and symlinks when installing Chromium on macOS, repair broken caches, and keep sign-in and retries on the same fallback browser profile.
- Make Select all respect the current search. Preserve pending downloads when adding work after stopping, and retain failed or stopped rows for Retry when clearing completed downloads.
- Complete the setup screen transition when retrying a failed setup operation.

Extract the complete archive before launching the app. On Windows, open Fig Backup/Fig Backup.exe; the WebView2 runtime is required. On macOS, right-click the unsigned app and choose Open on first launch; see Troubleshooting.
Setup uses installed Chrome or Edge when available; otherwise it downloads Chromium once. Backups are saved locally.
Validation: 129 Python tests and 43 JavaScript tests pass. Both platform packages are built and tested by the Release workflow from the v1.0.1 tag.

v1.0.0
Fig Backup's first stable release.
Highlights
- Fig Backup asks before it renames. If a different file already owns the name a new one wants, the run pauses and asks whether to keep both or replace. Previously it silently wrote
name (1).fig. Re-downloading a file you already have is still matched by key, so that is not treated as a conflict. - Setup uses the browser you already have. An installed Chrome or Edge is used whenever one can run; Chromium is only downloaded (about 325 MB) when neither is available — down from a mandatory ~150 MB download on every machine.
- Window resizing works on Windows again. The frameless window could not be resized at all: the native handle arrives from pythonnet as a
System.IntPtr, which does not convert to a Pythonint, while pywebview always calls.ToInt32(). - One restricted file no longer kills the whole backup. A per-file
403is recorded as that file's failure instead of invalidating the browser session, so it no longer aborts a team-wide run. - A downloader that survives a flaky network. Chromium is fetched with Python range requests, falls back across mirror hosts, falls back to the pinned version when
--versionprints nothing, and uses the Playwright CLI only as a last resort. - Breadcrumb navigation, with file-type icons resolved on demand once a listing is on screen, so folders appear without waiting on a type lookup.
The interface speaks 9 languages, including right-to-left for فارسی, and the new conflict strings are translated in all of them.

Upgrading from v0.3.0
Your existing backups and settings carry over untouched. The only behaviour change you will notice
is the new conflict prompt: if you relied on Fig Backup silently writing name (1).fig when a name
was taken, it will now ask you first.
Notes
- macOS: the build is unsigned — right-click the app → Open on first launch, or see Troubleshooting.
- Windows: requires the WebView2 runtime (preinstalled on Windows 10/11).
- Setup needs an internet connection once to verify the browser; everything else runs locally.

v0.3.0
Highlights
- A completely redesigned Downloads manager — grouped In Progress / Completed sections, per-item Retry / Cancel / Show in Folder, hover actions, a mini progress bar in the app header, and a fly-to-queue animation when you start a download.
- The interface now speaks 9 languages — English, فارسی, Deutsch, Español, Español (Latinoamérica), Français, Português (Brasil), 日本語, 한국어 — with the Vazirmatn font bundled for proper RTL rendering.
- All Figma file types — Figma Design (
.fig), FigJam (.jam), and Slides (.deck) are backed up in their native formats. - Loading skeletons for teams, folders, and files — no more silent waits while lists load.
- Upgraded to React 19 and Vite 8 under the hood.

Notes
- macOS: the build is unsigned — right-click the app → Open on first launch, or see Troubleshooting.
- Windows: requires the WebView2 runtime (preinstalled on Windows 10/11).
- This release downloads Chromium once on first launch (~150 MB); everything else runs locally. Builds after v0.3.0 prefer an already-installed Chrome or Edge and only fall back to Chromium.

Fig Backup v0.2.0
First public release of Fig Backup.
Highlights
- Native
.figbackups from Figma — automates the editor's Save local copy workflow with a bundled Chromium browser (downloaded once at first launch, ~150 MB) - Two-step setup — access token, then a one-time browser sign-in (postponable; the app routes you back before the first backup)
- Multi-select backups — pick any mix of folders (recursive) and loose files of a team and back them all up in one sequential queue
- Non-blocking download manager — live progress, per-item Retry, Stop after current, Cancel remaining; the app stays usable while a backup runs
- Structure-preserving archives —
Downloads/Fig Backup/<Team>/<Folder>/…, collision-safename(1).fignaming - Light/dark/system themes, right-to-left layout support, reduced-motion friendly

Notes
- macOS: the build is unsigned. On first launch, right-click the app → Open, or allow it in System Settings → Privacy & Security.
- Windows: requires the WebView2 runtime (preinstalled on Windows 10/11). SmartScreen may ask for More info → Run anyway.
- An internet connection is needed once for the Chromium download; everything else runs locally. See the README and Troubleshooting.
