@danielspils danielspils released this 06 Jul 03:44

Windows build of JP Patches v0.8.7. See the main v0.8.7 release for details: reliable JX-3P tape capture on Windows with no calibration needed (patches + sequences), near-instant panel clicks, and a clearer capture timeline. Windows 10 (64-bit) or later. I welcome your feedback and bug reports.

v0.8.7 — Windows tape capture + a snappier panel

Windows: JP now captures tape dumps from the JX-3P reliably on Windows at normal input levels with no calibration needed. App sounds (the sequencer editor and panel clicks) now route to your speakers correctly.

Both platforms:

  • Instant panel clicks — button and switch sounds are now near-zero-latency.
  • Clearer tape dump timeline progress — the Record timeline lights each section (Bank C, the divider, Bank D) exactly as that part of the dump comes in.

Note: The "what does my tape dump sound like?" feature is silent on the Windows version when sending from JX → JP. I'm working on a fix.

Install

Auto-updates from v0.8.6. System requirement: macOS 12+ on Apple Silicon (arm64). Windows 10 (64-bit) or later.

v0.8.6 — Windows round-trip

v0.8.6 — Windows round-trip

JP Patches now runs on Windows and does the full tape-dump round-trip with the JX-3P — send and receive both patches and sequences, custom names intact. Verified on real hardware. The window also auto-fits smaller screens. (The PC build is still a beta.)

On both platforms: when a capture comes in too faint to read, the recovery now offers Calibrate to boost the input and try again.

Install

Auto-update from v0.8.5 brings this up automatically. Otherwise: DMG below, drag to Applications. Signed + notarized.

System requirement: macOS 12+ on Apple Silicon (arm64). PC beta: Windows 10 (64-bit) or later.

@danielspils danielspils released this 05 Jul 01:30

Windows preview build of JP Patches v0.8.6.

Now working on Windows: the full tape-dump round-trip with the JX-3P — send and receive both patches and sequences, custom names intact. The window auto-fits smaller screens.

This is an unsigned beta. Windows will show a "Windows protected your PC" SmartScreen warning on first run — click More info → Run anyway. (Code-signing is coming so this goes away.)

Requires: Windows 10 (64-bit) or later.

v0.8.5 — Updates to Calibration and History

Cleaned up the modal that tracks patch and C/D banks history.

Streamlined the tape dump auto-calibration and manual-calibration flows.

Install

Auto-update from v0.8.4 brings this up automatically. Otherwise: DMG below, drag to Applications. Signed + notarized.

System requirement: macOS 12+ on Apple Silicon (arm64).

v0.8.4 — Tape Dumps Work (finally)

v0.8.4 — Tape Dumps Work (finally)

Tape transfers are finally reliable: patches and sequences transfer between JP Patches and the JX-3P without losing data. This bug nearly crushed me (many long days of haggling with Claude).

Recently I noticed captures from the JX dropped data at random — sequences missing pages, patches arriving with sound but no name (or a name but no sound). The culprit: JP was quietly asking your Mac to convert the incoming audio to a different sample rate in real time, and that conversion jittered the JX's tape-dump timing just enough to lose records.

JP now records at your interface's native sample rate — no conversion, no jitter, no dropped records.

You can read the whole story here: Notes blog.

Install

Auto-update from v0.8.3 brings this up automatically. Otherwise: DMG below, drag to Applications. Signed + notarized.

System requirement: macOS 12+ on Apple Silicon (arm64).

v0.8.4 — Windows preview (beta)

Pre-release

@danielspils danielspils released this 28 Jun 18:01

Beta Windows build of JP Patches, matching the macOS v0.8.4 release.

What's new in 0.8.4: Tape transfers between JP Patches and the JX-3P are now reliable. JP records at your audio interface's native sample rate, eliminating the resampling jitter that was randomly dropping data — sequences missing pages, patches arriving with sound but no name (or a name but no sound). Full story: https://jx-3p.com/notes/the-missing-music/

Requirements: Windows 10 (64-bit) or later. (Windows 7 and 8 aren't supported.)

Installing: This app isn't code-signed yet, so when you run the installer Windows SmartScreen will warn "Windows protected your PC / unknown publisher." That's expected for a beta — click More info → Run anyway to continue. (A verified-publisher certificate is on the roadmap.)

This is an early beta — confirmed running on Windows, but the native-rate capture fix hasn't yet been verified against a real JX-3P on Windows hardware (the sample-rate probe is macOS-only; Windows uses an automatic fallback). If you have a JX-3P and Windows, your testing feedback is invaluable — please reach out through the site's Email me / feedback form.

v0.8.3 — Cleaning up dirty imports

Dropping or uploading the wrong file type (or a WAV corrupted by MP3 conversion
or stray audio) now shows a clear message, instead of freezing the window or
overwriting your banks.

Install

Auto-update from v0.8.2 should bring this up automatically. Otherwise: DMG
below, drag to Applications. Signed + notarized.

System requirement: macOS 12+ on Apple Silicon (arm64).

v0.8.3 — Windows preview (beta)

Pre-release

Choose a tag to compare

@danielspils danielspils released this 25 Jun 17:20

Beta Windows build of JP Patches, matching the macOS v0.8.3 release.

This is an early beta — confirmed running on Windows 10, but not yet fully tested with a real JX-3P over the USB cable. Feedback very welcome through the site's Email me / feedback form.

JP Patches 0.8.2 — Windows preview (test build)

Choose a tag to compare

@danielspils danielspils released this 20 Jun 23:05

Windows preview / test build — JX-3P patch manager (the macOS app, now on Windows).

This is an early, unsigned Windows build of the Windows port (branch windows-port). It exists so PC users can try the app and report whether it installs, launches, and looks right — before code signing and on-hardware tape-dump testing are done.

⚠️ Read first

  • Windows will show a blue "Windows protected your PC / unknown publisher" warning. That's because the installer isn't code-signed yet — it's expected, not malware. Click More info → Run anyway.
  • This is a pre-release. It will not auto-update existing installs and won't show up as the "latest" download on jx-3p.com.

Install

  1. Download JP-Patches-0.8.2-x64-win.exe below.
  2. Run it (dismiss the SmartScreen warning as above). It's a per-user install — no admin prompt.

What you can test without a JX-3P

  • Does it install and launch?
  • Does the panel render correctly, and do the buttons / menus / Library tabs work?

Full tape-dump Save/Load to a real JX-3P (over the KT USB cable) is the next phase of testing and needs the hardware.

Feedback welcome via a GitHub issue or directly to Daniel.
