v2.4.0 — Timing & Technique trainers, History overhaul

@dasaro dasaro released this 05 Jul 10:12

Apple silicon · macOS 14+. The build is ad-hoc signed — on first launch, right-click the app and choose Open.

Two new evidence-based practice modes.

Timing Trainer — lock your playing to the click. Pick a subdivision (quarters → 16ths); after each bar it scores your timing consistency — the tightness that separates pros from beginners — and shows whether you're rushing or dragging. Feedback comes after each rep (not a distracting live needle), and the tempo only rises once you've locked a couple of clean reps.

Technique Trainer — chromatic "spider" patterns and arpeggios, scored on smoothness (evenness) rather than raw speed. Safety-first by design: it cues a relaxed, light-pressure hand, nudges you to take breaks, and encourages varying your drills — the practice habits research links to lower injury risk. Weak-finger patterns are included, with honest expectations about how they progress.

History, rebuilt. Every mode now shares a consistent Progress chart (choose the metric, axis and scale) and a real Mastery breakdown. A new Adaptive focus panel shows exactly which items the spaced-repetition engine will drill next, alongside plain-language Suggestions for where to improve.

Calibration moved to Preferences (⌘,) ▸ Detection — it's a setup tool, so it now lives with the other settings instead of the main mode grid.

Plus a round of detection and stability fixes, including a steadier menu-bar mic indicator.

v2.3.0 — Per-device detection calibration tool

@dasaro dasaro released this 27 Jun 06:24

Apple silicon · macOS 14+. The build is ad-hoc signed — on first launch, right-click the app and choose Open.

New: a per-device calibration tool. Plug in a different guitar, mic or interface and the app learns the detection thresholds that suit it — saved per device, so swapping rigs restores the right settings.

A guided Calibration wizard:

  • Noise floor + soft → loud set the amplitude floors with an honest SNR verdict (it won't write floors that can't beat the noise).
  • Ghost vs real — record muted vs real notes and chords to learn a per-rig boundary; the Metronome then shows a live REAL / GHOST readout for accent and muting drills.

Manual Preferences ▸ Detection edits now save to the active device's profile.

v2.2.0 — Scale Trainer: chord & CAGED visualisation

@dasaro dasaro released this 24 Jun 09:05

Apple silicon · macOS 14+. The build is ad-hoc signed — on first launch, right-click the app and choose Open.

Scale Trainer graduates from experimental and gains a chord/CAGED visualiser:

  • New Overlay picker: Off · Chord tones · CAGED.
  • Chord tones lights up the arpeggio inside the scale and names the chord it outlines (e.g. Am7).
  • CAGED highlights the actual chord grip the box sits in, names the shape (E·D·C·A·G) and chord, and draws a barre across the root fret for the E- and A-shapes — so a chord reads as a chord, not an arpeggio.

v2.1.5 — Scale Trainer: metronome counts in before the first note

@dasaro dasaro released this 23 Jun 19:18

Apple silicon · macOS 14+. The build is ad-hoc signed — on first launch, right-click the app and choose Open.

Scale Trainer: the metronome now counts you in — it starts as soon as you press Start, while the clock and countdown still wait for your first played note (the speed ramp begins with the clock).

v2.1.4 — Scale Trainer: start the clock on the first played note

@dasaro dasaro released this 23 Jun 12:23

Apple silicon · macOS 14+. The build is ad-hoc signed — on first launch, right-click the app and choose Open.

Scale Trainer: the session clock, countdown and metronome now wait until you play the first note — positioning your hand no longer eats into your practice time.

v2.1.3 — Metronome detection fixes, tunable detection settings, bugfixes

@dasaro dasaro released this 21 Jun 19:34

Apple silicon · macOS 14+. The build is ad-hoc signed — on first launch, right-click the app and choose Open.

Highlights

  • Metronome "Detect my tempo" now reliably registers your playing (onset-timestamp fix + lower attack floor), with a new live Signal diagnostic.
  • Preferences (⌘,): new Detection tab (tunable attack/pitch thresholds) plus concert pitch (A4) and daily practice goal.
  • "Min today" now counts all practice, including Vibrato and Scale Trainer.
  • A general bugfix pass (lost-session-time, history chart, log-file safety, and more).
