DataJoint 2.1 is in development!
We are excited to announce the upcoming DataJoint 2.1 release, which brings two major features:
🐘 PostgreSQL Integration
Full PostgreSQL backend support alongside MySQL. You can now choose your preferred database backend:

The documentation at datajoint.com/docs already reflects these changes. All 22 tutorials and how-to notebooks have been validated against PostgreSQL.
🗓️ Release Timeline
The exact release date depends on how quickly major pipelines migrate to DataJoint 2.0, allowing us to publish 2.0 on PyPI and conda-forge. We anticipate this to happen by mid-February 2026.
