datahub-yaml-source v0.1.0 — first public release
datahub-yaml-source is a standalone DataHub ingestion source plugin that reads a
directory tree of declarative YAML ("metadata as code") files and emits the DataHub
entities they describe: platforms, tags, glossary, domains, structured properties,
containers, datasets (schema, column-level lineage, column-level metadata), data
products, pipelines (DataFlow/DataJob with job-to-job DAG edges), run history,
data-quality assertions and incidents, charts and dashboards, saved queries,
knowledge-base documents, ML entities and the semantic layer, plus a software /
AI-agent catalog (REPOSITORY, API, SERVICE, AI_AGENT, AGENT_SKILL). No SQL
parsing, no live connection to source systems — translation only.
Status: Alpha (Development Status :: 3 - Alpha, @support_status(ALPHA)).
Maintained by a single developer, outside the DataHub Ingestion team.
Getting started: pip install datahub-yaml-source, then point a recipe at
type: yaml and run datahub ingest -c. See
yaml.md
for a narrative introduction and
reference.md
for a generated field-by-field reference of every kind.
Known limitations (see
_PLANNING.md
and yaml.md): the whole tree is loaded into memory before emitting (fine at
metadata-as-code scale); whether DOCUMENT and schemaField-level metadata surface
depends on the target GMS version; if one tree both defines and assigns structured
properties, use sink: datahub-rest with mode: ASYNC.
