Sonar 2.1.0

  • Animated boot sequence — on launch, a terminal-style system-init plays (kernel modules, network interfaces, radar array, device registry, anomaly detection, secure channel) with a neon progress bar, prints SYSTEM READY, then fades into the HUD.

Includes everything from 2.0.0: the futuristic sci-fi HUD redesign and the full 26-fix security/performance audit.

Grab Sonar.dmg, drag to Applications (macOS 14+). Un-notarized: right-click → Open → Open, or xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Sonar.app. Free & open source (MIT).

Sonar 2.0.0

@devShakib015 devShakib015 released this 05 Sep 23:17

Sonar 2.0.0 — futuristic redesign + full security & performance audit

A ground-up sci-fi HUD look and a complete hardening pass.

✨ Futuristic command-center UI

  • Phosphor-terminal / HUD theme: animated depth grid, corner-bracket panels, neon green→cyan gradient accents, CRT scanlines, monospace throughout
  • Glowing radar sweep and network-health ring, SONAR// wordmark with live cursor, forced dark cockpit palette

🛡️ Hardening — a full multi-agent audit, 26 fixes

  • No more UI stutter/freeze: all network subprocess sampling (throughput, uptime, scans) moved off the main thread
  • Data safety: atomic writes + corruption-preserving stores (a bad file can no longer wipe your device history)
  • Security: DNS-server input is validated before the privileged call (root command-injection fix); NextDNS/Pi-hole secrets moved to the Keychain; CSV-export formula-injection defused; cleartext-password warning for http Pi-hole
  • Robustness: request timeouts on all external calls, socket/stderr safety, correct RFC1918 private-range handling, and proper view-lifecycle cleanup (no leaked timers/tasks)

Everything from 1.x remains: discovery, fingerprinting, port/exposure scanning, diagnostics, Wi-Fi analysis, control, monitoring, trends, uptime, Bonjour, DNS logs, and anomaly detection.

Download & install

Grab Sonar.dmg, drag to Applications. macOS 14+. Un-notarized free build — first launch: right-click → Open → Open, or xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Sonar.app. Allow Local Network (required), Location (Wi-Fi), Notifications.

Free & open source (MIT). Fully local — no tracking.

Sonar 1.2.0

@devShakib015 devShakib015 released this 05 Sep 22:23

Sonar 1.2.0 — the premium update

🛰️ Radar view — an animated radar screen: your Mac at the center, every device a live blip with a sweeping beam and gentle pulse (exactly what the icon promises). Click a blip to inspect the device.

📊 Network Health Score — a single 0–100 security score with an A–F grade and actionable factors (exposed services, untrusted/new devices, uptime), front and center on the redesigned dashboard.

🛡️ Security anomaly detection — alerts when your gateway's MAC address changes (possible rogue router / evil-twin), when new devices appear at odd hours, plus a per-device timeline of joins and departures.

✨ Premium polish — a brand accent throughout, a first-run onboarding flow, and smoother animations.

All of 1.0–1.1 too: device discovery & fingerprinting, port/service scanning with banners, security flags, diagnostics (speed/ping/traceroute/DNS/WHOIS), Wi-Fi analyzer, exposure audit (UPnP), control (Wake-on-LAN, DNS, firewall), monitoring, trends, uptime, Bonjour services, and per-device DNS logs.

Download & install

Grab Sonar.dmg, drag Sonar to Applications. Requires macOS 14+.
Un-notarized free build — first launch: right-click → Open → Open, or xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Sonar.app. Then allow Local Network (required), Location (Wi-Fi), Notifications (optional).

Sonar 1.1.0

@devShakib015 devShakib015 released this 05 Sep 21:53

Sonar 1.1.0 — four new tool areas

🛡️ Exposure audit — a UPnP port-mapping check (what your router forwards to the internet — the highest-value home security check) plus an advanced port scanner for any host with Common / Top-1024 / custom ranges.

⚡ Uptime & reliability — a continuous outage monitor that logs every drop with its duration and shows a rolling 24-hour uptime %, plus speed-test history charts.

📡 Bonjour / mDNS services — browse what every device advertises (AirPlay, Cast, printers, HomeKit, SSH, screen & file sharing) and a web-UI title grab for sharper device identification.

⚙️ Settings & alerts — launch at login, menu-bar-only background mode, device search, and per-device alert rules (notify when a specific device joins or leaves).

Plus all of 1.0: device discovery & fingerprinting, port/service scanning, security flags, diagnostics (speed/ping/traceroute/DNS/WHOIS), Wi-Fi analyzer, control (Wake-on-LAN, DNS switching, firewall), live monitoring, 7-day trends, and per-device DNS logs.

Download & install

Grab Sonar.dmg, open it, drag Sonar to Applications. Requires macOS 14+.
