Navigation snap position to route option

On my 8-inch tablet in landscape mode the GPS position and recorded track line is always left near the road. Is it possible to catch the GPS marker within the route line (on freeways of course of the right side).

Also the action menu buttons are too small, shown narrowly squeezed at the lower edge.

Can they be the same size as on the smartphone, almost full size.

The location marker is placed on the GPS location coordinates.
GPS recording records the same real GPS location coordinates.

• Is it different in portrait?
• Do you use the Kalman filter? (try disabling it)
• Try with both location services: Android or Google

Also the action menu buttons are too small, shown narrowly squeezed at the lower edge.

• What screen resolution?
• Is it portrait or landscape?

You probably use the "Bottom" menu position.
You can leave the menu at default "Center" position.

Does the recorded track appears on the road while in portrait?

The model is Samsung Galaxy Tab Active5, Android 14 with Update from 1.4.2025.

I will test more today, but it is difficult to use in portrait mode because of the space left to the windscreen. Will try with another mount temporarily. Kalman filter was disabled, only animation active. Location Service always Android. Don't want to use Google.

Menu at default "Center" position is little better, but also not too good because the height of the buttons is limited and not enlarged in relation to the screen resolution (1080p). This is in both modes, portrait and landscape.

Fontsize in Cruiser is 125 %, Screensize 100% in application settings. If you could make the height of the buttons bigger in relation to the width, this would be fine. Doesn't need to be rectangle, but even why not? The space on the tablet is big enough... the better you can hit the right button with gloves.

To make screenshots is very difficult while driving. Could you please make a button for screenshot into the ONE TAP action menu (would be anyhow a good idea for documentation purpose)? I don't know if I can make screenshots today because of the driving speed, maybe on the way to the meeting point (if I am not too late 🤷‍♂️ ).

Even when you are not driving, the button height of the standard menu could be bigger on the tablet, also in both modes, landscape and portrait.

yes, the LTE 5G version.

I have sent all by email. I use 3-button navigation and full screen in cruiser. I try to describe: the gps location marker is mostly at the left of the painted route line, sometimes closer, sometimes wider. After recalculation of the route because of changing the planned route, it was suddently in the middle, also when beeing off the planned route, it was in the middle and after the recalculation. Seldomly it was at the right side of the route and also various sections it was full in the middle of the painted route line. What is also remarkable is that the witdth of the tracking file is different from the width of the route. On the table I have 240% for the route and 200% for the track and the track appears much smaller in relation to the route line.

All is really not of high prio, I could also live with it like it is. If there is an easy chance to correct it, ok, if not, also ok.

The limited height of the buttons on the tablet is a bigger issue (at least more important to me) and much easier to solve I guess.

• Is the location icon shifted in both portrait and landscape?
  What happens when you rotate the device and change its orientation ?

• Where is the Android notification bar?
  At the top in both portrait and landscape?

• Where is the Android 3-button navigation bar?
  At the bottom in both portrait and landscape?

• Do you use full screen in navigation?

Please answer all questions, so I can better understand what you see.

Location Service always Android. Don't want to use Google.

It's important to try the Google location service too.
Maybe it's working better on this device.

There is no notification bar. And the device has physical Android buttons. I also can't rotate it. It is either fixed in portrait or landscape mode. And I normally always use landscape. The shifting ist in both modes. I can try next time with Google Location service, but I don't think this makes a difference.

Yes, full screen in navigation.

Concerning battery consumption I think it's not connected to the Kalman Filter. I guess it is a background process, but I don't know yet witch.

Today had a longer trip. I switch from Android to Google GPS with WiFi seachring on. On my Tablet the GPS ist ON the right side of the planned route.
Sometimes its ok, but most of the time its more on the right side.

Maybe we habe to calibrate the Tablet. On my Blackview 9500 Outdoor Phone it seems to BE more accurate.

The marker is placed on the real GPS coordinates as reported by the sensor.

Do you have other apps running?
They may modify the GPS location, leading to errors.

In navigation, it's important to have only 1 app, the navigator running.

Other app were use GPS is the Launcher (the old DMD). Next time I'll Stop DMD, and use the original Launcher.

Yes, I've also a shift most of the time, was thinking it was due to the cloudy conditions but even without cloudy condition shift appears.

Nothing CMF Phone 1 on Android 15 always used in portrait mode.
Kalman filter activated (but shift was already present before filter introduction on previous versions)
Using Google Play Services

I'll check more in details on the next motorcycle ride and I will try to be more specific.

Hi, I've tried all sorts of settings. The result is always the same. 80 percent of the time the route is to the left of the location, 5 percent of the time it's correct, and the remaining 15 percent is the location to the right of the route. I had to switch to MagicEarth at short notice, but the problem didn't occur there.

Please change the Settings | Location | Appearance | Location circle to Accuracy.
So the location circle shows the current accuracy in meters and see how large it appears.

• Please try with another device at the same time to compare them.

• And try with both Android and Google location services.

• Also try in both portrait and landscape screen orientations.

I can add an option to snap the GPS location on the route as the other apps display above.
But if this device does not send accurate GPS locations, it may be a problem of this device.

@Cinemannix You can also change the circle in "Settings | Location | Appearance" to display the accuracy circle,
so you can see how large is the GPS accuracy in meters around your reported location by the GPS sensor.

I would go for the snapped one.

Snap position to route option in navigation will be available in the next update.
This is only for display of the location icon in the navigation.

It will use the adjustable off route distance as the threshold for the snapping.

GPS recording will continue to record the real GPS locations from the sensor.

If we check them as lines, they connect with beeline the points, so they depend on the points.
I don't see much difference as points. You can adjust the GPS recorded points with the filters.
