I installed Cruiser 5.5.0. In maps/offline maps i don't see the date of the map. In Cruiser 4.2.0 i see the size and then the date date yyyy-mm-dd of the map. In 5.5.0 the date is missing:

I think you once said "that anything is possible" as long as there is demand from the majority of users. Did the majority really want to remove the tile menu and show/hide map/route elements based on zoom? Mainly because of the lack of this second functionality I gave up on participating in beta testing and now I am refraining from installing 5.5.0. For now, I'm staying with 5.4.0, with the hope that one day the technical capabilities will allow to restore the missing functionality (maybe hidden as an "advanced" feature?) 🙂

During the Beta period it was explained that there are technical reasons
and user reported crashes that developers can see on Google Play.

The functions that may lead to problematic app usage and a less than ideal
experience need to be reviewed and improved before being public.

Of course there is no doubt that application stability is the highest priority! There are only a dozen or so users on the forum, we can't reproduce all possible situations in which the application causes problems for others. I understand this and I don't "take offense" at the new version. I believe that newer is better... but the old one was what we got used to and liked 🙂

I just expressed my hope that someday there will be a technical solution that will provide the stability and comfort of tiles and zoom-dependent visibility. But what I really hope for is that you won't stop developing the Cruiser! 🙂

Hi & first of all: great job. Thanks for improving the app more and more!

Regarding the new menu. In general I like the more clean picture now. But if I'm right there is a disadantage for all of us using the phone in landscape mode. There are some menus now where I've to scroll now. In the past I was able to see all (or even more) symboles at the same time because the old view used landscape mode. (e.g. the first menu you come in if you klick the three bars - the menu symbol)

Perhaps in possible to improve the menu for landscape in general.

Und zwar:
Beim Abbiegen (Zoommodus: Geschwindigkeit+Entfernung) wird (kurz davor) ganz herausgezoomt(niedrigster Auto-Zoom). Nach dem Abbiegevorgang wird wieder hineingezoomt.
Stelle ich den Zoommodus auf "Geschwindigkeit" ist alles normal.
Bei der letzten beta Version war das nicht.

However, the auto zoom “speed + distance” is complicated and depends on the route.
It is better to use speed or distance.

Problem: I use barbuttons to serve my phone during the ride. There I have one button to stop/start the navigation. This is very important to scroll through the map during the ride. Now with that new feature I get this menu and can't start/Stop the navigation any more 😢

Thanks a lot :-) That would be great. I'd really miss it. I often use this (pause the navigation) to switch the map into the 2D mode. Then I can zoom / move the card to get some orientation / check alternative routes if a road is blocked etc. After that, or after a detour I switch back to the navigation then. All this can be done with out stopping.

You can scroll or zoom the map during navigation too. It will automatically center again after the selected time in location / advanced settings.

yes - but then I'm in the 3D mode. That is not that good to get an overview. I pause to switch into the 2D mode

ps: I've also a button on my Barbuttons to center the map all whenever I want :-) (or if I scroll within the 3D mode)

The route calculation for the fastest routes has not been working well at all for some time. When inserting waypoints or recalculating the entire route, sections of the highway are repeatedly discarded and detours are taken. If you then recalculate the respective fast section, it works again. You have to go through the route again and again umpteen times because sections that you thought were planned as fast have been discarded and routed somewhere else.
It can't be right that the calculation of the entire route based on the fastest sections always produces different results for this fastes section then the function "calculate this section again". Something is wrong, it was different before. This is independent where you are, in Italy, in Slowenia or in Austria or Germany.

Da ich das alternative Betriebssystem LineageOS (gezielt ohne Google services) nutze, habe ich Probleme, die Pro-Version zu nutzen.
Installiert habe ich die neueste Cruiser-App (5.5.0) über den AuroraStore, aber sobald ich aktiv navigieren möchte, kommt die Meldebox "Abos" mit u.a. "kostenloser Test: 7 Tage" und ganz unten dann "Google Play Fehler".
Ich habe noch nie (!!!) über den GooglePlayStore etwas auf meinem Smartphone installiert, habe kein Gerät verknüpft und auch keine Zahlungsweise. Was müsste ich (bei Google) machen, um die Cruiser-App zur Pro-Version zu machen? Müsste ich auch einen Zahlungsdienstleister wie z.B. PayPal verknüpfen?
Gibt es einen anderen Weg als über GooglePlay, die Vollversion "freizuschalten bzw. zu bezahlen?

I thought I had already provided a sample and told that I have reset to the default which also includes tolls. In the screenshots you see that it does not take the freeway in lot cases. And where is should not used to Freeway because the direct way is quicker, it uses the freeway and then turns back.

Instead of taking the freeway A10, it calculates a route beside the A10 which is definitely not the quickest.

When again calculating the section only then it takes the right one, the A10. But when inserting waypoints it changes it again, so that you always have to control each section again and again.

Here it takes the A10 for 10 or 15 km and then drives the same way back instead of leaving the A 10 and directly and take the A10A which is much quicker.

Again the question: why calculating the complete route gives a different result for fast routing then recalculating a section. This is not logical.

The purple track is the quickest way including A10 freeway in Austria.

Here maybe better only a part of the route. Calculating the complete route it takes the "Katschberg", calculating the section after waypoint 3 it takes Katschberg tunnel which costs extra toll but is the quickest and the setting accepts toll.

Same the section till shipping point one. Calculating the complete route it takes the standard street, for sure not the quickest way. Calculating this section again it takes the quickest way witches the A10.

Just back from a ride, here is my feedback concerning favorites:

Settings -> Navigation ->Panels -> Nearby favorites :
Nearby favorites : 4
Position : Right
Visibility : always

My collection -> Favorites :
A group of favorites (011) containing 6 favorites is set as "Show" + "Use in navigation"

While navigating only 2 favorites where shown as you can see on the screenshots :

Here he comes the strange part

Clicking the station stated as 42km away is giving me "Q8 easy Braine Le Comte"

But when looking inside the favorites, she is not at 42km but 24.4km

And the good value is 24.4km, when checking with QMapShack

The one at 1.5km was not shown

We can configure "Always" or up to 10km.
I don't get it why you are talking about "search settings" in that case

So route calculation is happening in the background everytime for each favorites used as navigation ?
In my case the station shown is the one at the longest distance and not the one at the shortest distance 🤔

There are multiple distance in nearby favorites and POI:

• Search distance from the route, selected in search settings, default 100 m
• Visibility distance (default always): how near the favorite / poi their panels will appear
• Displayed distance on panels: measured distance from GPS location on the route line

Navigation panels and favorites list display different distances:

• Navigation panels: distance from GPS location to favorites measured on the route line
• Favorites list: distance from map center to favorites measured as straight line

Just because in your screenshot the map center is 1.5 km from a favorite,
this does not mean the favorite is near your GPS location that is far at the right.
Also this favorite is not even near the route line, so it does not appear in nearby panels.

I have started from new and end in the same result. It is a toll road, the recalculation changes the sequence of the insiderted waypoints and the deletion of single waypoints generates the duplications. There is a bug but I can't explain it. It is too complicated.

Issues I have at the moment with v5.5.0:

1. Nearby points of interest: I have selected only the gas station as this just what I want to see.
   The first one is correct: it is actually the nearest one on my route.
   The second one is not correct: it is definitively not the next one, there are at least 2 other gas stations before it. And I can see these 2 other gas stations on the maps, so they should be known by cruiser.

2. I do not find anymore the setting to set a panel on the left or on the right

The gas stations I was mentioning are highway gas stations, so they are literally 50m or less as the crow flies from the highway lane.
However to get there, one has to take the exit lane to the gas station and drive a couple more of meters...
I had to increase the search distance from 100m to 200m to get them displayed in the nearby poi panel.
However I am pretty sure we can find highway gas station which will require more than 200m of drive from the exit lane to the gas station. In which case they will not show up in the panel.
Is there an easy way to solve that dilemma ?

If you want to change globally the app sizes (e.g. all menus),
increase the display size in application / advanced settings.

It's difficult to answer without specific route examples.

That's why exists the setting of the search distance from the route.
So users can select their preferred distance to search for nearby POI.

Anyone else spotted the minor "rounding down" bug in the last few(?) versions?
If you leave the map on a round zoom value, eg: 12.0 , close the App, then restart and use the zoom in/out buttons: It always lands on xx.9

This is without any user intervention during the zoom/render process which I know will halt the zoom action.

Zoom buttons change 1 zoom level, but the OpenGL map engine has variable zoom.

For me, these shaping points are not that relevant when navigating, I wouldn't even have to see them. But in their current state, they don't bother me much when navigating.
However, when I plan a route and send it to a Garmin device, I need these points so that the same route appears on the Garmin.
And when I look at the entire day tour, all I see are these points.

Aber es kann sich auch mal wieder ändern.
Ich habe zur Zeit keine Stabilitätsprobleme auf meinen Geräten.

Da mein Kurviger Pro noch funktioniert, mach ich mir da auch keine Gedanken das Cruiser morgen nicht mehr nutzbar ist.

Unfortunately, I know from my own experience that it is easy to fall into the trap of not updating software. In the long run, this can bring more trouble than temporary benefits. I confess that I have "custody" of one computer with Windows XP on board.... I hate it, and to make matters worse I am completely at a loss as to how I could replace it with something contemporary due to its bizarre configuration... 🙂

Leider weiß ich aus eigener Erfahrung, dass es leicht ist, in die Falle zu tappen, Software nicht zu aktualisieren. Auf lange Sicht kann dies mehr Ärger als vorübergehenden Nutzen bringen. Ich gestehe, dass ich einen Computer mit Windows XP an Bord.... "verwalte". Ich hasse ihn, und zu allem Überfluss weiß ich nicht, wie ich ihn aufgrund seiner bizarren Konfiguration durch etwas Zeitgemäßes ersetzen könnte... 🙂

ich habe noch Kurviger Pro 1.14.28 auf meinen 3 Gräten laufen und bis heute habe ich keine Probleme damit. Ich weiß nicht, wie lange es schon kein Update bekommen hat. Genau so werde ich es mit Cruiser machen. Hier aber nur auf zwei Geräten. Es gibt erben Optionen, die möchte ich nicht missen, auch wenn ich dafür auf anderes verzichten muss.

But only on two devices. There are options that I don't want to miss, even if I have to do without other things.
