Show only the active route section in navigation

Would be nice if traveld route get another color or better transparency ,
Then you know better where to go after stops, specially if you don't used GPS tracking.

I did already - but all I can see are the next sections to be shown differently.
The already travelled route "behind me" is deleted from the display, as it already was in previous verisons.

I tried both parameters in 5.5.2 but i still see the pased way in my case in magenta, tried transparent and dashed, magenta line after my way is still there.
What do I wrong.

A route line is created from points that can have a large distance, especially in straight sections.
The traveled section starts each time from the route point behind the location and goes back.
In straight sections, this could be many meters behind, so it's visible until the section is passed.

@HPK-AT Note that this is not like drawing the GPS recorded track where we generate track points with movement.

The route points already exist in the route geometry and we can only use the existing points to draw the route.
(draw the whole route or a part of the route)

Nur mal so als Idee....
Ich hatte mal ein Becker Navi mit einem Skin. Da wurde der noch zu befahrende Routenabschnitt in einer anderen Farbe angezeigt als der bereits befahrene.
Der bereits befahrene Routenabschnitt könnte z.B. mit der Routenaufzeichnungsfarbe gefärbt werden.

Cruiser Beta makes the navigation line disappear between the variable density track points after the position icon.
This Cruiser Beta effect looks somewhat like the plume of smoke from a sputtering two-stroke engine. pffff...pfff.

Similar to the Becker Navi description find an example of a no longer available OLD track navigator app.

The navigationline style color changed directly after the current position arrow.
Old TN at the time did offer 100% faithful Garmin tcx course or gpx track navigation.

There is no point in drawing the old route sections if there is only interest in the active route section.
And you can already change the appearance of next route sections in navigation / advanced settings.

Here an example how I navigate my bicycle tours:

Explanations:

1. Route behind the last waypoint erased - only the driven track is visible
2. Route in the active segment behind the current position - both the route and the driven track is visible
3. Route of the active segment before the current position
4. Route of the subsequent segment(s)

So it's already possible to distinguish between the route behind the position and the route in front of it.

the grey line is your visible Track i suppose.
This settings i use (green dashed for Track in my case) already.
I would prefer not to see the magenta route behind my current position, just only in front of my position.

Bei dem alte Becker Navi (Crocodile) war das fließend.
Die zu befahrende Strecke wurde blau angezeigt, die bereits gefahrene Stecke rot(oder andersrum..). War sehr übersichtlich das Ganze.
Bei der Rechenleistung so eines uralt-Navis kann das doch eigentlich kein Problem für ein Smartphone sein....

Ich war am Wochenende unterwegs. Soweit alles prima!
Die befahrene Routenlinie wird gelöscht und man sieht nur noch die zu befahrende Route.
Jetzt das Problem: Wenn ich an eine unübersichtliche Wegkreuzung komme und muss mich orientieren wäre es gut wenn ich wüsste wo ich hergekommen bin......das kann ich aber nicht mehr sehen!(die Trackaufzeichnung liegt auch manchmal sonstwo daneben...).
Wenn man die bereits gefahrene Route dünner (1/3 der Routenbreite) oder halb transparent noch sehen könnte wäre in solchen Situationen hilfreich.

Verschwindet die Route gleich nach Deiner aktuellen Position? So hätte ich es gerne aber noch nicht geschafft richtig einzustellen.

Zu Deinem Thema Track GPS Recording , bei mir funktioniert das sehr gut, man kann die Zeit und Strecke der einzelnen Positionen kurz einstellen, dann ist der Track schon sehr genau.

The route does not disappear after the current position, but what lies before the last waypoint is deleted.
It's funny: one person doesn't want to delete it completely and the other finds it too late to delete it before the waypoint ...

The droven route had dissappeared behind current position (ok up to 2, 3 seconds later) in any Garmin GPS Device or APP i used up to now.
I found this very useful and from where you came is exactly recorded in GPS Recording if set to short recording intervals.

Das Verschwinden der Routenlinie ist unterschiedlich mal kürzer mal länger. Bei 2 Wegkreuzungen war der befahrene Routenabschnitt direkt hinter mir weg. Da ist es dann etwas schwieriger sich zu orientieren. Die Trackaufzeichnung ist manchmal ( je nach GPS Empfang) ein paar meter(bis zu 20m) neben der Strecke. (liegt vielleich auch am Gerät)
Anhand der Trackaufzeichnung kann man da nur ahnen wo man herkam.
In solchen Fällen wäre eine dünnere "Hilfslinie" schon hilfreich.

And if the route line was directly "gone" at crossroads, then it is because a waypoint was located at the crossroads - in principle a no-go.

Die linie zwischen den gerade konsumierten punkten wird entfernt. Da die route linie mit variabler punktdichte erstellt wird, entsteht somit dieser effekt der variablen länge.

We can add an option to show the previous route section like before (until previous waypoint).
Although it's best not to fill the app with so many options for a single function.

The option will work like before, no extra transparency or dashes in previous section, let's keep things simple.

I disable the option then it remains as usual. I do not like the effect. It seems like the app route line sometimes keeps stalling and thus it is not pleasant to see. (imo).

Well, when we travel, most of the time we look ahead and not constantly on our phones,
so super smooth movement or any small differences are not that important,
except in simulation or when making videos.

IMHO the Realisation is usable as it is. Droved Route will dissappear very close after current position.

Vorsicht viel Text....
Bei der Vorherigen Version konnte man es so einstellen: Routenlinie bis zum nächsten Punkt aktiv,dannach gestrichelt.

Beispiel: Ich verlasse die eigentliche Route zum Tanken. Ich gebe die Tankstelle als Wegpunkt ein. Die Tankstelle ist ca. 5km von der Route entfernt. Ich muss die Abzweigung hin und zurück fahren. Durch Einbahnstrassen etc. entsteht zum Teil ein (optisches)Routengewirr.....(hin+zurück) das schwierig zu erkennen ist.
Da kommt die Antwort: Nur aktiven Routenabschnitt anzeigen....Richtig.
Nächstes Beispiel: Ein Wegpunkt ist falsch gesetzt. Wenn ich nur den aktiven Routenabschnitt aktiviert habe fahre ich tapfer bis zum falschen Wegpunkt um dann umzukehren....Antwort: Komplette Route anzeigen dann hätte man das erkennen können....Richtig.
Bei einer Version bei der der aktive Routenabschnitt als durchgezogene Linie und die folgenden Routenabschnitte gestrichelt dargestellt werden hätte man beides vereint!
Passiert öfter als man denkt!
