Sidecar v1.4.4 — GPT-6 model hotfix

This hotfix adds GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna to Sidecar's default model catalog. They are available in the setup and connection model pickers and through authenticated model discovery.

What changed

• Added gpt-6-sol and gpt-6-luna to the default model list and example configuration.
• Enabled image input for both models, plus ultra reasoning for Sol. Luna supports low through max.
• Updated the bundled Codex CLI to 0.155.0, the minimum version that supports both models.

Sidecar v1.4.3 — brand rename hotfix

Sidecar is the local AI gateway for proving an idea before paying to scale it. This hotfix completes the product rename from Codex CLI API to Sidecar, brings the new brand kit into the shipped app, and points customers to sidecar.co.in.

Pay only for scale, not for POC.

What changed

• Renamed the desktop app, dashboard, window title, tray label, About screen, installer copy, and documentation to Sidecar.
• Replaced the old product mark with the Sidecar cobalt, charcoal, off-white, and white brand system across the desktop shell, dashboard, and native app icons.
• Added the complete source brand pack under brand-assets/Sidecar_Brand_Assets_Pack/ so future website and product surfaces use the same assets.
• Updated product-facing links and release metadata to www.sidecar.co.in.

Compatibility

This is a branding and packaging hotfix. Existing API routes, API key format, workspace behavior, updater feed, updater identifier, and signing identity are unchanged. The source package and desktop crate are now named Sidecar, while the runtime compatibility contracts remain stable. Existing Sidecar installations can update without reconfiguring their local gateway or IDE connection.

The product remains focused on testing proof-of-concepts locally before committing to production infrastructure. IDE connections are supported as a convenience, but the core value is validating what works before paying for scale.

This hotfix adds browser-app access controls for API keys and fixes the version shown in Settings and About.

Changed

• Browser origin allowlists: Choose which web apps can use each API key. Configure origins when creating a key or under API Keys → Edit policy.
• Browser API support: Added CORS handling for allowed origins while keeping desktop administration protected.
• JavaScript example: The Connect screen now includes an example for integrating your own web app.
• Correct version display: Settings, About, and Updates now show the installed app version.

Your existing keys, sign-ins, and settings are preserved. To connect a web app from a different origin, add its origin to the key's policy. Existing server and CLI integrations continue to work.

Windows gateway startup fix. This version upgrades v0.1.4 through the existing signed in-app updater; the version number is intentional.

Update from inside the app

Open Settings → Check for updates → Download update → Install update, then confirm. These native controls remain available even if the gateway cannot start. Existing workspaces, keys, and app data are retained.

For manual installation, download only the installer for your computer. Source-code archives are not app installers.

Fixed

• Normalize Windows extended runtime/data paths before passing them to bundled Node.js, addressing the EISDIR startup failure.
• Show the actual bounded runtime error instead of always claiming the port may be in use. The desktop access token is redacted.
• Report real port-binding errors when a port actually is occupied.
• Check for updates independently of gateway startup so a failed launch does not suppress the update notice.

The path normalization is a no-op on macOS. No workspace or authentication reset is required.

Interactive Windows shortcut launch and an installed cross-version OTA upgrade remain to be tested by the user. macOS is ad-hoc signed, not notarized; Windows is not Authenticode-signed, so operating-system warnings may appear.

Automatic updates (OTA) — no manual download needed

Fixes

• Completed sign-in now shows a disabled grey "Signed in" button with a separate "Sign in again" action.
• Fixed Settings restoration and a fast-restart race that could leave the dashboard blank.
• Fixed resetting model selection to the gateway default and removed duplicate Settings controls.

Installation

• macOS Apple Silicon: use the .dmg installer.
• Windows x64: use the -setup.exe installer.
• After installation, use the app's update controls to check for and install newer published versions. No manual OTA-file downloads are needed.
• An app already on v0.1.4 will report that it is up to date; it will offer an update when a newer compatible release is published. Older builds without updater support require a one-time manual installation.

Verification and limitations

Local checks passed: 107 unit tests, 35 browser tests, 13 release checks, syntax/type checks, and a packaged macOS runtime smoke test. Browser sign-in/inference tests use isolated fixtures; no paid provider requests were made. Hosted builds validate both platforms and updater signatures before staging.

macOS is ad-hoc signed, not Apple-notarized. Windows is not Authenticode-signed; operating-system warnings may appear. Live provider sign-in, interactive Windows installation, and an installed cross-version OTA upgrade have not been verified for this release.

macOS Apple Silicon development build. Download the DMG, open it, and drag the app into Applications. README.txt is included in the disk image.

Includes the local gateway, bundled Node and Codex runtimes, desktop settings, legacy key import, and the permanent-delete confirmation fix. Personal credentials are not included.

This build is unsigned/not notarized. Windows and Intel macOS installers are not included in this release.
