Power Dozer v0.84 — main menu and graphics fixes
- New main menu: Start Game, PC Options and Close Game.
- PC Settings is available before choosing a save, with complete sections and all fourteen control bindings visible together. This screen uses the game font and shadows, without the logo.
- Fixed widescreen clipping of ticker medals and rank icons.
- Fixed the vehicle-shadow texture border that could produce a black line.
- Fixed gradual stick and trigger navigation, including control remapping.
- Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch button prompts follow the active controller and your bindings.
For smoother textures, select Graphics → Texture Filter → LINEAR. Select 3POINT for the original texture style.
Download the Windows x86-64 or Linux x86-64 package below. You need your own Blast Corps USA Rev 1 ROM.
Power Dozer v0.83 — audio fixes and PC settings
PC Settings now shows every option in complete Display, Graphics, Audio and Controls sections. Controls displays all fourteen logical actions together. The overlay uses the original game font, palette and translucent shadows decoded from your own ROM, with keyboard, mouse and controller navigation, optional remapping and matching Xbox/PlayStation/Switch prompts. Tiny white arrows centered inside stick icons show the physical direction, including remapped actions.
Two bounded audio repairs address pending audio starvation during active graphics and soundplayer heartbeat loss through queue saturation or stale event state. Original guest scheduler/callback regressions cover the causal mechanisms. A ten-minute Linux GPU/PulseAudio attract run kept progressing with nonzero late PCM and no rejected output buffers; this does not establish universal audio stability or identify the initiating event of every native dropout.
Includes Linux x86-64 runtime, source archive and SHA-256 files. Windows v0.83 is pending a fresh native build and validation; Windows v0.82 remains in its earlier release. Supply your own Blast Corps USA Rev 1 ROM. No ROM, extracted game images, private generated game code, saves or recordings are included.
Validation: 55 CTest checks and 153 Python tests passed. Native Linux settings runs exercised Xbox, PlayStation and Switch virtual controllers for four minutes each and reloaded saved preferences. The centered-arrow build passed a separate two-minute visual check. The relocated portable runtime passed a 90-second Vulkan/PulseAudio attract run with nonzero late PCM and no rejected buffers. Physical hardware acceptance is separate.
This is a public testing beta. Real controller hardware, speaker/headphone output, broad mission coverage and sustained 4K/120 Hz remain manual checks. Source/license certification flags retain their existing documented status.
Power Dozer v0.82 — wheel interpolation fix
Fixes wheels appearing to jump or wobble at speed on Backlash, Sideswipe and the other wheeled vehicles. The shared vehicle renderer now interpolates around each part's original axle pivot. Both animation buffers keep that pivot, including when an animation stops.
Includes Linux and Windows x86-64 runtimes, the source archive, and SHA-256 files. Supply your own Blast Corps USA Rev 1 ROM; no ROM or private game data is included.
Validation: 138 Python tests, 46 Linux CTest checks and two Windows CTest checks passed. Regression tests use actual RT64 fractional-frame interpolation, rotated bind recovery and buffer lifecycle checks. Final 200-second attract-mode runs on Linux and Windows cover Backlash and Sideswipe with private captures and vehicle/pivot telemetry. The relocated Linux runtime also passed a 60-second Vulkan run through Backlash.
This is a public testing beta. Intermittent audio loss and the existing full-game/controller/120 fps testing limits remain. Source/license review flags retain their documented status.
Project work and release attribution: djultra64. Original dependency notices remain included.
Power Dozer v0.81
Power Dozer v0.81 is a public beta of the native Blast Corps USA Rev 1 port.
- English documentation and comprehensive project/dependency credits, with original notices preserved in runtime and source packages.
- Native Windows x64 support and portable Linux x86-64 packaging.
- Windows atomic saves/import and backups with Unicode paths; corrected Windows startup diagnostics.
- Project commit authorship corrected to djultra64.
Validation: 134 Python checks, 45 Linux CTest checks and 2 native Windows CTest checks passed. Brief portable Linux and interactive Windows Vulkan sessions exited successfully; Windows rendered at 1280×720 and accepted keyboard input. Audio task/sample activity was recorded, without claiming sustained audible continuity.
The thin black ground line reported during testing is no longer visible to the reporter and was not reproduced in recent local captures. No speculative graphics patch was applied.
Provide your own legally obtained USA Rev 1 ROM. No ROM, extracted game assets, saves or private recordings are included. Windows requires Vulkan drivers and the Microsoft Visual C++ 2015–2022 x64 Redistributable.
This is an experimental beta release: intermittent audio loss remains under investigation. Broad mission coverage, physical controllers and sustained 4K/120 Hz presentation remain for manual testing. Source/license review flags remain unresolved.
Runtime archives and the source archive have separate SHA-256 files. Installation, controls, troubleshooting and build instructions are in the repository documentation.
Power Dozer v0.8 — Linux Beta
Power Dozer v0.8 is the first Linux x86-64 testing beta of this native Blast Corps port.
Download power-dozer-v0.8-linux-x86_64.tar.gz, verify the matching .sha256,
extract it and run Run Power Dozer.sh. Supply your own unmodified Blast Corps
USA Rev 1 ROM (z64/v64/n64 or a ZIP containing one ROM). No ROM is included.
Features
- Widescreen presentation, resolutions up to 4K and configurable interpolation targeting 120 Hz.
- Alt+Enter fullscreen, in-game PC graphics/audio options and persistent progress.
- Remapping by action, automatic last-device prompts and Xbox/PlayStation/Switch/keyboard atlas glyphs.
- Correct Switch physical face labels (B/A/Y/X), full-width menu backdrop/ticker and corrected map sprite seams.
Requirements and known limits
Linux x86-64 with SSSE3/SSE4.1, Vulkan, X11/XWayland, glibc 2.38+, a C++ runtime
providing GLIBCXX_3.4.31 and zlib. SDL/DXC libraries and dependency notices are bundled.
Windows is not included.
Intermittent audio loss remains under investigation. An audio-task recovery guard is
included, but it has not been proven to resolve every occurrence. Full-game coverage,
physical controllers and sustained 120 fps need manual testing; completion-replay
sky/fades and HUD-arrow visual stability need further visual checks.
The source archive includes the host, pinned dependency sources and reconstruction
scripts. Game CPU/RSP code is generated from the recipient's ROM. Manifests retain
outstanding source/license review flags; see NOTICE and bundled notices. This
prerelease does not certify full source/license audit completion or stable-release readiness.
Validation
Automated CPU/Python tests passed. A private Radeon/compositor session confirmed
Switch B/A/+ glyphs and keyboard Z/X/Enter handover in actual gameplay/help captures.
The portable Linux package was checked independently of the workspace installation.
