Codex Lifeboat v3.1.4

Codex Lifeboat creates a complete, portable backup of your Codex projects, conversations, settings, skills, and related data. The backup can be verified and restored on another Windows computer through a simple graphical interface.

This release significantly improves the reliability and clarity of the complete backup process.

What’s improved

  • Improved detection of removable USB drives.
  • Added accurate progress reporting for copying and hashing.
  • Fixed the backup process appearing to freeze after hashing reached 100%.
  • Fixed executable staging errors that could cause WinError 3.
  • Improved validation of active SQLite databases and their WAL/SHM files.
  • Version checks no longer block a backup when the latest online version cannot be determined.
  • Added protection against launching Codex Lifeboat directly from inside a ZIP archive.
  • Improved messages and phase transitions during backup creation and validation.
  • Updated GitHub Actions dependencies.

Codex-Lifeboat-Windows-x64-Portable.zip

Extract the complete ZIP file to a normal folder and then run:

Codex-Lifeboat.exe

Do not run the application directly from the ZIP preview.

No installation or Python environment is required.

Verify the download

The included SHA256.txt file can be used to verify that the downloaded ZIP is complete and unmodified.
